Confused re Sky HD if I cancel

Hi,
This query appears to have been raised a few times but with differing opinions, can anyone confirm for definate (ie someone who may have been there and done it!):
I have Sky with the HD pack. I want to keep Sky but cancel the HD element. Obviously I'll lose the HD channels - but what about 'free' HD channels such as BBC HD, ITV HD etc - will I still be able to view these thorugh my Sky HD box and secondly will I still be able to use my Sky HD box to record the 'free' HD channels.
Thanks.

You will still be able to view and record all the free (FTA and FTV) HD channels providing you pay a minimum subscription of one pack. These channels are BBC HD, ITV1 HD, channel 4HD, Five HD and soon BBC1 HD (but NOT the soon to launch ITV 2HD, ITV 3HD and ITV 4HD which will require an HD subscription). You will also NOT be able to view previous recordings from HD subscription channels.0

Hi,
The free ones are pretty much the only ones I use, so seems sensible to cancel...
Just for absolute clarification, you state "a minimum subscription of one pack2 - I'm still looking to retain Sky with the Variety Pack (in effect entry level/basic package) so assume all will still be OK re watching/rcrding free HD channels.
Sorry if seem to be repeating, just keen to ensure I'll retain football in HD (ie Champions League)!!
Thanks.0 -

Yes, with Variety retained you will retain ITV HD plus the other ones Dave mentioned.
You will miss out on ITV4 HD Euro matches.
Ps, have heard Sky CS sometimes tell fibs (or don't know their onions) that you'll not receive some of those freeebie channels, so hold your ground.0
