what happens if Ryanair cancel flights, do they have to put you on another flight, just been reading some stories about spain and flights being cancelled last week
Due to fly to portugal on Thursday 30th, a bit worried about the flights being cancelled, before or when we get are due to return, what are our rights, if they cancel the flight, do they have to pay for our accomodation and food until the next available flight like the EU rule when it was the volcanic ash,
Any help would be appreciated, as getting nervous!

Hiya. Strike is wednesday only at the minute. I am due to fly with ryanair on wednesday morning. If you check their website it will give you details of how to rebook free of charge if need to.
All ryanair flights are operating as normal but you can't take a suitcase. I'm lucky as going to visit my brother for 4 days so only taking hand luggage but a friend of mine is going for 2 weeks with a suitcase so they have had to change their flight to sunday.
I popped into Thomas cook today to get some euros and the lady asked where I was going etc. I told her and said about ryanair, her reaction was oh.... She said that they hadn't been informed of what will happen to their customers booked on flights for Wednesday and I've just looked on their website and there is nothing, but then after their fiasco over the volcano I am not surprised. (I got stranded in Turkey and thomas cook were dire! I flew with Turkish airlines who were great) You would think a big company like them would put something on there website.
Carolydor, you should be ok for Thursday, will keep my fingers crossed for you0

            Thanks,
hi i know this shouldnt affect me, but what if i get out there and ryanair cancel my return flight, what are rights, dont want to be stuck out in country with two children, not being able to get home, will i have to pay for new flights if they cancel due to strike action. i am expecting to be delayed going out as there will probably be a knock on affect. Any advice much appreciated.0

Airlines are supposed to look after you, it is called Right to Care in EC261/2004.
To allay your worries, perhaps do a list of hotels that are near the airport and take it with you, a bit of a back up contingency plan you could call it.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I have no luck with holidays. I was delayed 16 hours with ryaniar back in February. They gave us 5 Euro vouchers every 4 hours to use in staff canteen which we were able to get a 3 course meal in Gran canaria airport.
As we were unsure of how long the delay was we were given the option of rebooking at the airport free of charge for a different day or we could transfer to stanstead which was flying out after 2 hours. Some people did that but as we were due to fly into east mids, they refused to put transport on for us from stanstead and I couldn't afford the 250 pounds taxi fee and as it was our choice to fly to a different airport I think they are within there rights to refuse to pay?
My friend had his insurance with his bank and was able to check into a hotel but we chose to stay at airport.
I have travelled with a few airlines and I have to say Ryanair are probably the fairest at letting you rebook free of charge, but thats just my opinion. Hope that helps.0

Forgot to say. I claimed off my insurance when I got back, but as we were looked after at the airport they would only pay out for the 16 hour delay, which came to £80 for 4 of us and thats it0

            Hi Cityboy
We waited for the east mids flight. They didn't say we had to fly to stanstead, everyone was given a choice and it was on a first come first served basis as only a few seats left on the flight.
A few people were kicking off as ryaniar said yes they would pay for taxis etc, until someone asked if we could have it in writing and when ryaniar rung head office they said no.
I don't think i could claim anything now, but would be interseting to know incase it happens again. I'm just hoping we manage to fly out in the morning.
I will print off the above just incase, its always handy to know these things, so thankyou0
