I do? Or I will?

Does anyone know if you are just allowed to say 'Yes'? Or does it have to be "I will"? I hate public speaking so the fewer words the better, hehe! I'm dreading that vows bit, absolutely dreading it!
FWIW I though it was "I do", must watch too many american programmes hehe

We didn't say either "I do" or "I will" but all of the guests commented on how lovely our vows were. We asked the registrar to email us a copy of it to keep.
You have to say a legal declaration that you are free to marry. We said
"I do solemnly declare/that I know not/of any lawful impediment/why I ……………….. /may not be joined in matrimony/to ……………………..
In this lifelong commitment/ to partnership and friendship/I will love her/ respect her/ and stand by her/ throughout all the circumstances of our life together"
Then for the vows we said
"I give you this ring/as a sign of our marriage/and a token of our love/ and I call upon these persons here present/ to witness that I ………………………do take thee ……………………/ to be my lawful wedded wife/ to love and to be together/ for the rest of our lives. In the presence of our family and friends/ I promise to love you unconditionally/ to support you in your goals/ to honour and respect you/ to laugh with you and cry with you/ and to cherish you for as long as we both shall live"

Our registrar gave us the details of the 3 versions of the vows we can choose between,
Declaratory Words
Long:
“I do solemnly declare that I
know not of any lawful
impediment why I . . . . . . .
may not be joined in
matrimony to . . . . . . .”
Medium:
“I declare that I know of no
legal reason why I . . . . . . .
may not be joined in marriage
to . . . . . . .”
Short:
By replying “I am” to the
question “Are you . . . . . . . .
free lawfully to marry . . . . . .”
Contracting Words
Long:
“I call upon these persons here
present to witness that I . . . . .
. do take thee . . . . . . . to be
my lawful wedded wife/
husband”
Short:
“I . . . . . . . take you . . . . .
to be my wedded wife/husband”
or:
“I . . . . . . . take thee . . . . . .
to be my wedded wife/husband”A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0
