Minimum distance between

Hi,
Can anyone tell me the minimum distance a calor gas bottle should be from an oil tank? Boiler engineer seemed to think it was 6' ? I know it has to be on a solid base etc but what about the distance? Am also looking at getting smaller bottle than current ones(47 kg)

Current oil tank is cracking and are having it replaced but because of new build regs it needs to be bunded and gas bottles need to be moved(and there is not much space to play with unfortunately)

    Quote from the LPG regs

'For oil storage tanks containing up to 3000 litres of product with a flash point of 65c or less and LPG vessels up to 60 tonnes the distance is 3m'

The above is applying to kerosene and is really aimed at bulk tanks.

    It also says

'No more than 50Kg of LPG cylinders with pressure relief valves that vent horizontally should be stored within 3m of tanks less than 5000 litres'

So it seems the answer you need is 3m.

Just be careful if you get anything less than 47kg, as the Off-take of the cylinders reduces quite drastically when you go down to the next size of 19kg.

    A 47kg produces circa 34kw and a 19kg circa 18kw,

    So check your appliances.
