Yes I keep on hearing this as well, but nothing I see appears to be falling in price and food looks as if it is going to be way above inflation next year.0 -
That's right the production of "Uncirculated Coins" has been suspended to concentrate on the production of "Silver Bullion Coins". If you're a coin collector this a crushing blow. However if you're a precious metal freak you can still buy as many bullion coins as you want. The US mint is obliged to produce them.
All your link tells us, is that the US mint has now managed to get hold of some more silver blanks so it can resume production of Proof coins. All of which rather demonstrates that your previous statement "There are no more silver Eagles being made by the US mint" was a tad inaccurate.
There are plenty of 2010 Silver Eagles to be had. Cheapest I could find where £21 including VAT. You can also buy Britannias, Canadian Maples, Chinese Pandas, and Australian Koalas to name but a few.
You try buying a silver Eagle for £21 including VAT, I guarantee you will not be able to. Prices for eagles are way up because they are not making them any more.
Do you know how much the only coin they are making is? The proof silver eagle is very limited in production? It cost about $50 per 1 ounce coin. Only available in the US and limited amount you can order.
Dread to think the price to get one of these through customs and into the UK.0 -
Here is the proof silver eagle - all $50 of 1 ounce silver of it.
But its not available until end November.

Try BullionByPost, see http://www.bullionbypost.co.uk/silver-coins/?gclid=CO-K6Jaw0qQCFVEA4wodLm8-KQ
American Eagles are £21.08 including VAT and insured delivery. Mind you you do have to buy 500 of them to get that price, but you do get them in their "original US Mint tubes". But then that's only £10,500 worth; what would be the point of investing any less? And you don't have to worry about getting them through customs and into the UK because that's already been done for you.
Why do you keep repeating the same nonsense about the US mint not making any more Silver Eagles when anyone who types '2010 Silver Eagles' into Google can find dozens upon dozens of retailers advertising the things for sale. They've even got them for sale on Amazon.com for pete's sake. They've got about a dozen different sellers there and their 2010 Silver Eagles are priced at between $25.20 and $41.95, or between £16 and £26, but then carriage is extra and there's VAT on top of that.
Proof coins are specially made for coin collectors. They're always produced in limited quantities. They come "sealed in a protective plastic capsule and mounted in a handsome satin-lined velvet presentation case with its own official Certificate of Authenticity". They cost more than ordinary bullion coins. If all you're interested in is the silver content it would be a waste of money buying proof coins. The fact that you don't appear to understand the difference between a proof coin and an ordinary coin strongly suggests that you don't actually know the slightest thing about investing in precious metals.
P.S.The price on BullionByPost does fluctuate minute by minute, so I can't promise it'll be £21.08. It did go as high as £21.13 a bit earlier.
P.S.S It's £20.97 now. Is this a buying opportunity?0 -
To buy 1 US eagle from https://www.bullionbypost.com is about 27 quid plus delivery.
Yes you can buy them from any dealers who still have stock but they are selling out fast.
I think the point is the US mint are not making anymore, but that doesnt mean there are no more left in world.0 -

"All prices include insured delivery" states the website in a little box that is rather difficult to miss. The price for one coin might well be £27.08, but why would you want to buy just one coin? That's not going to get you very far come the apocalypse is it?Yes you can buy them from any dealers who still have stock but they are selling out fast.

Sighs. But they are making them. The US mint is legally obliged to produce as many Silver Eagle bullion coins as the market will bear. And even if the dealers did 'sell out', you could just buy some Canadian Maples, Chinese Pandas or whatever. Same thing only a different set of pretty pictures.0 -

Well it would certainly help a few people if they had silver ATMs. Given the problems they seem to have in working out how to buy the stuff, anything that makes it easier should be welcome.0 -
Oh I doubt it. Anyone who can't work out how to buy silver eagles, is hardly going to be able to organise the purchase of firearms.
Most goldbugs are into survival and have guns and ammo along with their gold.
Silver investors are different they are more informed and keep a lower profile.
I invest in both gold and silver and I am not a tinfoil hat wearer.0
