Handy - commiserations on the family stuff. Suggest you stop lending money to kids, they are all grown up and should be able to sort things out for themselves. And if Mrs Handy wants to relocate oop north, then why don't you suggest she does some research? As in looking for jobs and places to live? You haven't got time to do it, and there's no such thing as the jobs fairy or the house fairy, so tell her you will consider it if she can gather together enough info for you both to sit down and consider things. In my experience. people who are badgering others to do something become less keen when they themselves have to take on the work!
Cheers Nargle. Good Idea, my softly softly approach is only half working. Early last year we were seriously looking to move, since then MIL has passed away, my Mum is in a lovely home and is safe and well cared for.
My old mate Lord Hooray has gone, but in lot's of ways the job is easy now as he's not stood at the back of me all the time I am working.
(I have looked up and seen him stood by the barn watching what I'm doing :eek::eek: also sometimes a ghostly buggy whirrs past).
We really only need to go North a couple of times a year to see mum, birthdays ect. When I see mum sometimes she remembers me and others I get told to FO. 700 miles for a 5 minute visit.
There is really only the Grand Kids and they will both be at nursery in a few months.
So things change, I have always followed my heart not my head. But this time I am trying to take the sensible approach.
Anyway todays not been too bad, at least we are talking again and the dogglies are on the mend.
Cheers all, catch you tomorrow.

Sneaks back in :hello:
Had a tiring week taking mum from Scarborough to Hull for radiotherapy every day, now I've got a few days to myself at home, time to catch up on all the telly I've missed.
Hope everyone's well x
Och hugs for Ames and Handy
You might have gathered I've been non CM for a couple of days with ma stress(supposed to meet her end of next month. I'll be a full time carer for a 4 days I fear:eek:)
And when I challenge her every apology has a 'but' at the end or an excuse.....PS just sticks up for her...I've told her to put her foot down and not put up with PS's everyday whines (cos her life 'aint that bad!!!) but she won't...
Then to add insult to injury she offered to help me out with my wifi bill but changed her mind cos I got the HTC and I was obviously 'loaded' - but didn't tell me. Didn't realise every 1/2 penny I spend is now accountable to her
not that she's that frugal really ....though always moaning how poor she is...
She even begrudged giving me £5 spending money for a day trip last time she was up because I'd spent it on a friend and couldn't get my £ in time....
Like why do I get the feeling in her eyes I will forever have to suffer for not being what SHE wants me to be and my teenage rebellion
So yeah tough couple of days...Now she wants me to hike to the other side of town for 2 cookbooks she can't get hold of locally where she is. Ok I did offer but money is tight this week and like I'm doing all the giving and she's doing all the taking...
So yeah...pretty grumpy with the old bison...(sorry calf)...only little bit of success is that I've got us out of the lousey easy hotel and into the posh YH (more like mini hotel but Ma is still callling it a hostel...she ought to have stayed in some of the dives I've stayed in :rotfl:) but that's it...
Paris was stillmore important than paying £40 for a decent train ticket and when she's tired she squeaks like a 3 yo....lovely...She could only afford a £10 train ticket @ the time....shame I'm not PS - I mean 'no.1 daughter'....she can afford to go all the way to New York with her and spend a week in a hotel...
Sorry to rant...just giving you all an update...Praying you get stuff sorted Handy

Good Morning All. Off to the shed again today. I've nearly got the junk (antique) table finished. Just waiting for the polished black granite top to arrive.
