Hiya folks - what a day this has been - took hubbie down to do his car boot this morning, came home to walk the dogs and watch the Ryder Cup on tele - golf was suspended due to waterlogging, and an ambulance was at my friend/neighbours house. I went straight round and helped her relax while paramedic was there. She was in quite a state, paramedic says she was dedydrated and probably had a viral infection. He made arrangements for her to see her doctor and I sat with her for a while, making a cuppa and chatting. I popped back hope to walk and feed the doggies, while she got washed and changed and then took her in to the docs and then over to the hospital for full blood tests. I then took her home and went down to pick hubbie up from car boot. We called at auction to look around and got home about 4 pm. Day gone.

And then I log-on here to find that my diary thread has been temporarily closed till tomorrow morning as 'someone' has been posting abuse and a slanging match ensued - or that is what I have subsequently been told   So you've got me tonight folks

I'm quite happy to re-post my post from your thread 3Dogs - it wasn't a slanging match but seeing is this thread is supposed to about keeping trolls at bay i don't think this is probably the time and place to bring it up - just my personal opinion........

Why do folks let themselves get into slagging matches on an online forum? It's bizarre! I can understand it in the heat of the moment and it comes flying out your mouth... but when you need to physically type it all furiously down, hit send and fizzle until you get a reply; it's there for all to see.

Wayyyyyy too much hassle for me! But then, so is a shouting match :D. It happened once by accident at work (made the mistake of phoning council tax people who sold a debt that didn't belong to me onto a DCA. She was going against their website info and CAB advice and when I asked if she just wanted money form any random punter whetyher or not it was their debt in the first place, she said yes. Big mistake. Huge!)

You've never seen a more concerned bunch of colleagues when I eventually came of the phone!!! Tea and biscuits and lots of ensuing advice came forth. But thankfully I was also told, although clearly angry and loud I was calm and rational! Who knew! :rotfl: Never before, nor since, have they heard me raise my voice! (Rolling eyes are a different matter however... :rotfl:)

New page, time for another reminder:D

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

    What is a Troll?
A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made. If you should get such a comment made on any thread you post, asking for help and advice, please realise this comment is not directed at you personally so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal because the majority of us really are a lovely bunch – ooops, modesty!

What should I do if I get a comment made on my thread?
Firstly do not respond to the comment as this is invariably what the troll wants. So to get rid of the offending post, at the bottom of the post towards the right hand side you’ll see a red "Warning" triangle within a blue “Abuse” icon, as shown below:

    report.gif

Click the icon and then "send" the message which will inform the abuse team of the post, who will then review its content and deal with it as appropriate; sometimes even deleting the troll by making their status PPR’d (Posting Privileges Removed). Remember, this site is an asset to so many people, especially those that feels like their world is falling in around them. There is a wealth of knowledgeable people here all willing to help, whatever you do, do not let the comments of one silly individual deter you from availing yourself of the knowledge base that is on offer here.

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE FORUM :)

It is testament to the work that Martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time, knowledge and experience freely to others; without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of their debt crisis
