so where might I get a refurb laptop around £200, comet etc are all around £350?

Is my ebay link to be avoided?

That packard bell laptop looks good but he'll need to physically go into a shop to see if it is suitable for him (can you tell how thrilled I am to be set this task?)

So re: my internet question, can he use a mobile dongle with a netbook? Do they work PAYG?

again sorry for questions that I should prob know the answer to, I just cannot get my head around it all.

Just an quick update to say I'm still searching for the bargain. If anyone has any further input please post! Again ideals are (i) lightweight and (ii) long battery life. Willing to spend <£450 (added extra £50 from original post).
