New Laptop?

Hi all!
Am thinking of getting a new laptop <£400. I will be losing my desktop (donating to family - recycle bonus!) and have a PS3 so gaming needs are satisfied.
Could anyone give some recommendations? Mainly be used for internet, multimedia and working. Wouldn't mind something a bit lightweight (last one I had weighed a ton) and not too loud.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

The place to look usually recommended is the Argos Ebay Clearance site.
It usually sells off end of line and refurbished laptops and is very popular with those seeking a bargain.
Also, keep an eye on the sticky at the top of this about laptops up to £350.
If you are anxious to buy and would prefer not to wait for a bargain or a refurbished one then check out what ebuyer and Scan and Comet have to offer.
You can always return here to gather opinions on any specific laptops that might appeal to you as to their VFM.0 -
Thanks for the info Knarf44.
Can you (or any other volunteers) tell me what you rate this one as:

It's just ok, nothing more. Shame that you just missed this eBuyer deal for £300.
Hang on, something will turn up.0 -
Thanks Donnie for putting me to eBuyer!
I'm continuing to patiently wait for a good deal, however if anyone finds one before me please let me know!
Cheers,

You could have a look at Dell's outlet store where they sell refurbs as well.

Sure that it's long since sold out; Thursday Special Buys 17th June 20100 -
How about this? Quite a bit under budget, but should be fine for your needs. Add a couple more Gigs of RAM easily and cheaply, and you could upgrade the OS to Windows 7 if you wanted to, to make quite a respectable, cheap machine.

Are you joking? Please don't recommend anything without a full warranty here.
New or as new with a 12 month warranty is what is expected.
Otherwise it will just turn into a free for all, with everyone trying to advertise their old rubbish.
I'd give a mate £100 for that old dog, at the most. It's really just an old piece of junk.0
