Thanks but never received this, I have applied a couple of times in my name and my DH's name!
  • As a retired Police Traffic officer, I have always wondered at the need for such a sign/sticker.........

Do people who fit these honestly believe that it affects the way others drive around about you....I doubt it very much in today's "Self Self Self" society...

But more importantly, have you ever stopped to think of what sort of problems it could cause at the scene of a serious Crash?

You see, I having attended many accidents over the years, particularly on the Motorway network where people had been thrown out of the vehicle they were travelling in....these wee stickers could cause a serious delay......

At the scene of the accident, you are unconscious, or worse, and the bobby sees sticker in the window....what should he/she do....go walk about looking for said little person down a banking or elsewhere when infact they were never there to start with and doing so, waste time on dealing with other injured members of the public or other issues at the scene... like leaking fuel and the potential of fire etc etc.

If the little person was in the correct seat, fitted and belted correctly, then that wouldn't be a problem.

I have seen so many kids being transport with little regard to how they are fastened in that they may well be ejected through the door or smashed window....believe me, it happens all too often...but fitting a sticker doesn't absolve the person responsible for taking care of the little person.... doing it correctly in the first place...

Finally, how many times would you actually go to the trouble of taking the sticker down when the little person wasn't in the vehicle.....umm, thought not. ;)

I don't think they are designed to make people around them drive safer, I think they are designed so that fire crew know to cut the baby out of a mangled car before the driver if the baby isn't visible. In fact I assume it's useful to the police and ambulance too to assign correct resources etc.

I understand its frustrating if there is no baby on board but whats worse, waste time looking down the embankment for a baby that's not there, or not know that a baby should be on board and only find it when it's too late...

Agree with you about the car seat though, if they don't have the car seat right, a sticker isn't going it fix it.
