Stockton Heath - anyone know this place, and can offer some re-location advice?

Options
Hello,

Can anyone tell me what Stockton Heath is like, which is situated quite close to Warrington? We are looking to move to the area, so that my little boy can go to a primary school in Antrobus, Northwich that we like.

My husband is a “city person”, so we need a location that would allow us to get into Manchester or Liverpool quite easily, yet, I prefer a village or small town – ideally living on the outskirts, so the children can run in the fields and have a few hens!

Someone suggested Stockton Heath, but I need to visit as I have never been there before – does anyone know the area and have any advice – it will be very appreciated!

Many, many thanks
Sarah

Warrington is a dump, if it's within Joy riding distance I would stick with Northwich.
  • Stocton Heath is a very upmarket area of Warrington and is highly reccomended.Visit yourself and see!

Thanks, I don't know the area, so this is really handy information. I have had a look on rightmove and Stockton Heath seems quite a pricey area. If nice, I am sure we could stretch our budget to afford something. Do you have any suggestions on where else I should look, which ideally is within 4 miles of Antrobus, Northwich?

    Many thanks

Yeah totally agree, one of the best parts of warrington. Loverly large village with great resturants and bars etc.

Stockton Heath is a very nice village! I often go out socialising there of an evening too which is a lot nicer than Warrington town centre. Great wine bar, nice Italian restaurant and a really lovely Chinese restaurant. It is fairly pricey (the houses) but I like it and have friends that lived there.

My sister-in-law has lived in Stockton Heath for 20 years and we used to live close by. There are much worse places to live. It is a really nice place that has developed a lot in the past few years. Some areas of Warrington have issues, but show me a large town that doesn't.

Thanks for your help! I am going to have a look round - apart from nice bars and restaurants, which is great! Is it child-friendly, as I have 2 under 3's!

    Many thanks

Stockton Heath lies cheek by jowel with Warrington, being separated by the Manchester Ship Canal. It's a nice, self contained area, having a couple of good restaurants, nice local shops and even it's own small Sainsbury's (even though there is a Sainsbury's in Warrington).

About 15 years ago there was a major expansion of work in the Employment Department in Runcorn, with a significant number of middle and higher ranking Civil Servants transferring into the area. They all chose Stockton Heath to spend their relocation packages on.

Commuting to Manchester is relatively easy because of the M56, but Liverpool can be a little more problematic due to a couple of bottlenecks getting through Warrington or over the bridge at Runcorn.

If I worked in Warrington I'd move there.

Why not try Appleton?Just next to Stockton heath but with a much greater choice of houses.Within walking distance of Stockton Heath for shopping, eating, etc.
  • Warrington is NOT a dump - alright some parts have their problems just like anywhere but the majority of Warrington is nice. Stockton Heath is lovely but too many bars would make it a place where I wouldn't want to live - Try Thelwall, that's really nice and not too far from Stockton Heath, you may also find the house prices a little lower.
