Cyprus!

Hey was just looking some advice, and as this forum is so big, I thought that maybe someone could help!

My fiance and I are planning to get married in Cyprus in May 2012, neither of us have been to Cyrpus, but its the land of love!

I have my heart set on the Elias beach hotel, where we can get married on the beach, but it is in Limassol, which is in the middle of nowhere by all a counts!

Anyone got any advice, any reccomendations.........anything at all would be welcome!

Hope to hear from some well travelled people, or anyone lol

Cyprus is beautiful but I personally wouldn't want to get married in Limassol when there are so many other pretty beach resorts to choose from.

Limassol to me is more a town than a holiday resort.

How many family and friends are you expecting to travel to Cyprus for their holiday in May 2012?

Thats what my other half thinks, but the idea of the pier in Elisa hotel is so attractive!!

    Can you recommend anywhere?

There will be between 20 and 25 people including 4 kids aged 2, 4, 5, and 12 a time of holiday!

We've attended a wedding at Napa Mermaid in Ayia Napa which was lovely. Lots of families go and it's a nice place, plenty of places to eat and drink. Many people get married at the Grecian Sands too. Protaras is popular for families.

Thank you, I sort of thought Ayia Napa would have been too rowdy if you know what I mean?

To be clear: this is the Elias, not the Elisa yes?

The pier is pretty but it's not that uncommon at Cypriot hotels. Take a look around the site that tiamaria linked to and you should find some elsewhere.

From memory (and if the pockets are quite deep!) then the Elysium in Paphos has a pier that they use for weddings. There's an image of it on the weddings website but not on their own. The Grecian Sands in Ayia Napa is very popular for weddings; they hold them in the grounds but right at the water's edge. So guests are sitting on chairs on grassy lawn but the bride and groom are right next to the sea with waves crashing onto the rocks. Far enough away not to get wet, obviously. It makes for nice photos.

    Happy planning,

  • Hi,
We got married in Cyprus in 2006. We married in St Georges Chapel, near Coral Bay and Paphos. The Chapel was beautiful inside and I think it would hold about 20 to 30 people.
The company we used were Medweds - they were fantastic.(Our wedding pictures are on their website: June 2006) They organised everything down to the last detail. We took 11 guests with us and they arrived to the chapel by an old fashioned bus. ( the bus picked them up from their villas)
We held our reception at a lovely restaurant about 10 minutes away - it was private for the meal and then open to the public later.
If you want any further info let me know.

    Dawn :)
