enter BIOS by pressing (usually) F2 or ESC on boot-up (your splash screen usually tells you which one) and look for the time/date settings
Just rebooteed, but as is normal there is no time to read, (let alone take any action), any of the text on the 3 screens that appear one after the other, each one only viewable for about 1 second.

What make /model is your computer derrick?
Now there is a question!
It was bought from a local,(now gone), company and was more or less built to order, but pretty basic, I assume there is somewhere on the computer I can access the info, but don't know how to:o
Give me a minute, I might have the info.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

Hi derrick
Afraid that doesn't tell us what make/model it is.
To enter bios noramlly it should either be the F2 or Delete key.
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts keep tapping away at the Delete key and see if that brings up Bios screen, if that doesn't work try F2.
When you get into the bios just have a look at the time/date and check it is correct, if wrong change it following the instructions in the bios.
To exit bios use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move along the top tab to Exit, it will ask you to confirm settings and exit just press Y for yes.
Important not to change or alter any other settings in the Bios.0 -
Tapping delete key allowed me entry into BIOS, time and date correct.
Is there some way in that screen, (or other), to allow the 3 start up screens to remain on screen longer? As I stated in post #12?Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
If it loses time again, open it up, and look for the cell battery on the motherboard, and replace it.
With 512MB of ram, it will probably run better without avg and spybot, and with avast.!!

Am having same probs as OP when starting computer today, one screen also says " CMOS battery low".
Is it an easy job to change, and if so how?
What will happen if I don't change it?

You could BTW have the PC automatically check the time & reset it
