Closed computer last night as usual using Hibernate, switched on this morning and got the request to;-
1) press F1 to “set up.
2) 2) press F2 to continue loading defaults, (these might have been the other way round), I pressed F2, (continue loading defaults).

I don’t know if there are other problems that have or may come to light, but the clock in the bottom right of the task bar is showing at time of posting 00.36, 2003, and the actual time is 12.10 2010.

It has also informed me that my Anti virus is out of date, I have updated this but is still showing out of date,(AVG 9.0.856),

Running Windows XP Home Edition and Firefox 3.6.10

AVG overview is informing me everything is active with all green Active ticks.

I ran Malwarebytes yesterday on a full scan, (as I do every Saturday), and it found nothing, also have Spybot S&D installed.

I also restarted the computer.

What are my options?

Have you re-set your system time & date?

Your antivirus will inform you it is out of date (even though it is up to date )if your computers time/date is wrong.

I hadn't, but have now, (why did it change time and date?).

It is still showing as out of date!
Do I need to restart the computer?

sounds like the CMOS battery needs replacing first, then reset the time/date

Could be Gunjack, just ruling out if op has reset time/date properly.

Also check your time/date in your bios, if it still reverts back then as Gunjack says it will be your battery.

    How old is the PC?

Have restarted computer and warning has now gone, and no "Anti virus is out of date"status. Cheers

Edit, posted as new post were posted, hope this one answers. I did click apply.

PC about 5 years old, never done this before.

    So is time/date correct?

If it reverts back then it will be as Gunjack says.

still check time/date in BIOS as fiddiweb suggests, just to be sure ;)

'coz if it will keep time while the comp is running, but next time you turn off it goes again, sure sign you need a new CMOS battery....

enter BIOS by pressing (usually) F2 or ESC on boot-up (your splash screen usually tells you which one) and look for the time/date settings
