EasyJet flight transfer/sell-on query

Back in July I booked return flights for me and my son to fly to Lyon from Stansted, for February half term next year.
Being either end of the school holiday the tickets were expensive (I expected this to be the case). They were about £370 return for the two of us.
But we've had to change our plans and need to go the week before. EasyJet would transfer us for a fee of £60 (i.e. £15 per flight change).
If I was to buy return flights for the dates I now want it would be about £110 for the two of us. £260 less.
EasyJet customer services were not very accommodating when I suggested (in the light of the vast difference in ticket price) that they at least waive the transfer fee. This was even after the person agreed with me that they would probably be able to sell my original seats for more than I paid for them (current price is £417). She also suggested that I could make a new booking and sell on the original booking.
So I have two choices:
(a) pay £60 to transfer on to the cheaper flights and write to EasyJet Customer services in Luton and hope they are more understanding.
(b) make a new booking (£110) and sell on the original booking. Names and flights/dates can be changed, so as long as the new flights are of equal or lower value than the original then there would be £120 (4 X name change @£15 + 4 X flight change @ £15) to pay to transfer the flights.
Has anyone any experience of this? And what would anyone advise?

From easyjet T&cs paying particular attention to the BOLD sectionNames of passengers may be changed on payment of a "name change" fee per passenger, per journey up to one hour before the scheduled time of departure of that flight.
In addition, if there is a difference between the original fare paid and the current fare available at the time the change is made, the customer will be required to pay any increase in fare since the original booking.
No refund will be given if the new fare is lower. Bookings containing more than one Journey must have the same passenger name for each Journey and name changes are not possible where any Journey in a booking has already been made. If a customer wishes to change a traveller’s name on a flight that is full, then any price difference to be paid will be based on the highest fare applicable for the route booked.
Names of passengers that form part of an online booking made by a registered member can be changed through the easyJet website. The changes must be made at least two hours prior to the flight's scheduled departure time. The fees for name changes can be found in our Carrier's Regulations.
Names of passengers can be changed online or by telephoning the easyJet sales centre on 0905 821 0905 at least two hours prior to the flight's scheduled departure time, or by going to the airport sales desk at least one hour prior to the scheduled departure time. (Calls cost 65p per minute; calls from mobiles and other networks may cost more. For other telephone numbers visit the contact us section.)
Anybody buying these flights would have to pay the current fare PLUS the name change fees.
No point really unless the flight was sold out and they were desperate.
If I were you Id pay the £60 and grin and bear it.0 -
Thanks,
To quote:
"In addition, if there is a difference between the original fare paid and the current fare available at the time the change is made, the customer will be required to pay any increase in fare since the original booking. "
then anyone buying the tickets would pay the transfer fee and any increase in the price (which may be zero/negative).0 -
They dont refund if its cheaper. If its the same or less, why would they buy yours and pay transfer fee?0

Actually I wasn't thinking of anyone wanting to pay the whole amount, as that wouldn't make sense to any buyer. What I was wanting to explore was the possibility of passing on the tickets for at least the cost of my new flight plus the transfer fee, in which case I wouldn't be paying any more than I originally was and anyone buying the tickets could be paying less than directly with easyjet.
I know they don't give refunds, so I was exploring whether its possible (or workable) to transfer/sell-on so that I save a little bit and the buyer also saves something, but as you say it might just be best pay easyjet myself for the transfer and grin and bear it.0 -
i think i might have fallen into a similar situation:
i booked a flight at £110 but now am not able to go on it.
i was thinking of selling the flight on the basis i would pay the transfer fee £30 and the buyer would pay some of what i paid for the flight.
could i sell easyjet flights on ebay? then whatever i got for them would reimburse me in some way for what i have spent.
what do you guys think?0
