I think your thread is really interesting as Im in exactly the same situation. However in this case its me that feels he owes..... My mum scrimped to survive looking after 2 children and he never paid a penny or sent cards or kept in touch and I resent that she HAD to do it all on her own (though she did a great job and she wouldnt want his money).

Sadly my 'dad' lives in England and I wouldnt be entitled to anything under English law - shame he doesnt live in Scotland as I would def claim my heiratable rights.
