Welcome back OP, at the bottom of the ruter status page is a show statistics button, as wel as the speed we need to know the line attenuation and noise margin figures, with those speeds you must be in the middle of nowhere, or have some very dodgy wiring. Actually your upload speed is very good, on a perfect line is would not be more that 1mbps or 1000kbps.
Is this what you mean?
Readings taken whilst connected to master test socket
Connection Speed 1530 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 55 db 31 db
Noise Margin 15 db 13 dbTypically confused and asking for advice0 -
It looks like you have been capped by Sky.
With your line attenuation of 55db, you should be getting a download speed of around 4Mbps.
The high noise margin of 15db suggests you have been capped. I'd give them a ring and get it lifted. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
OP says the stats were taken from the master test socket, so that 'should' eliminate dodgy internal wiring.
Left to its own devices the modem/router should synchronise with a noise margin of 7db.
Noise margin is inversely proportional to sync speed.
Thats why i surmised that OP is being capped.
PS on an unrelated topic, impressed with That Cable. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Best speed test is to use https://www.speedtest.net, that will tell you what you are really getting. This is used by engineers who have to come to your house for installations and faults.
You may have faulty wiring coming into your property, also it could be internal, extensions can cause problems even if router connected to the master socket, BT have BT accelerators, I added one and got a increase of 1.5 Mbps download, total download speed 6.5Mbps after adding.
If you do have extensions with anything connected check there are ADSL filters on each one. You'll be amazed how easy it is to miss one or find out someone has plugged one in.
An often overlooked factor is if you have a wireless router, is it near anything that can interfere like a cordless phone base station, mobile phone left near the router or anything else wireless, moving it just a couple of feet can make a huge difference.
Quick things to try before calling Sky.
If speed is important I can swear by BT Infinity it is the super fast broadband using cable from BT. I get 36 Mbps download and 7Mbps upload. It is being rolled out and honestly changed my life. I get so much more done particularly as I work from home.
Drop the speedtest.net result on here.

OP has provided us with their router statistics, these provide definitive information regarding the state of the connection.
OP has checked this by connecting to their test socket, thus eliminating any degradation from internal wiring.
BT accelerators/or iplates simply add a choke(inductor) into the bell wire circuit. The same effect can be achieved by removing extension wiring to pin 3.
You are quite correct regarding wireless interference, best to do speed tests wired.
I'm looking foreward to FTTC in my area, I believe Sky are involved with the roll out as well. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Very pleased with it. Can play BBC iplayer videos in HD in seconds. Download movies from iTunes in minutes.
I was told it would slow down as more people get on board. Not true, if anything it is faster and no contention ratio.
BT do not have to share this with other providers yet. It will come but could be too late as each cabinet only supports about 200 fibre connections but provides to 1000 premises. First in first served apparently. It's worth getting.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. This is the Sky trial, probably a long wait till it reaches the East Midlands, we won't get Freeview HD til next year!

speedtest.net result 1.32 download .66 upload
Yes we do have wireless phones
Nope I do not have the bell wire connected in the master socket
What do you mean by 'capping'?
got this reply from sky -
Thank you for contacting Sky Help Centre.
On checking the line for the speed we have it configured at I can see there are many errors on the line. Errors will cause the broadband connection to be very slow or drop out completely.
Downstream
Avg Errors Per Hour: 1862.45
Total Errors: 29212
Over The Period: 15 hours 41 minutes
CRC Snapshot: 184983
The CRC Snapshot errors are really too high. These errors are usually caused by the incorrect physical set up of the equipment in your home. Is your broadband connected to the master socket? Is the microfilter in the master socket then connected to the router via the grey cable of the router? Connecting via extension sockets and extension cables should be avoided. Have you checked the microfilters? Perhaps they are faulty.

No idea what a CRC snapshot error means
Oh, and thanks for everyone that has repliedTypically confused and asking for advice0
