upload bandwidth

with sky unlimited but my bandwidth is failing.

Anyway I can increase this?

(you might of guessed I have no idea what it actually is - but just keep getting messages and cut off whilst in video conferencing)

  • Upload speed is usually much slower than download. I would give their tech line a call and request them to increase it for you.

The first thing to establish is what your speeds are and the state of your connection.
These are your router line statistics.

First log on to your router by clicking on this link

    http://192.168.0.1/sky_router_status.html

The user name is admin, the password is sky.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on show statistics.
Copy and paste them into the forum.

What's your actual bandwidth? Sky might have a package with a higher bandwidth.

You could also ask the other party to reduce the quality of the video slightly.

OP did say they were on Sky Unlimited, theoretically up to 20Mbps, assuming you live next door to the exchange, hopefully their routerstats will shed some light.

    That's download......

Upload is typically up to 448kbps or 1Mbit.

Indeed, I'm syncing at around 7945 kbps download / 831 kbps upload, thats on a 47db line.

Another case of the disappearing OP.

If you want to increase your upload speed speaking to Sky technical support you could ask them to switch you over to ADSL 'Annex M' which will increase your upload speed at the expense of reduced download speeds.... however looking at how slow your download speed is i really don't think you've any spare to be switching over.

tbh its your download bandwidth you ought to be more worried about...... Do you live in the middle of nowhere to be getting those low speeds or do you have bad wiring? there are sites around that'll tell you what other people typically get speed wise in your area you can compare to

Welcome back OP, at the bottom of the ruter status page is a show statistics button, as wel as the speed we need to know the line attenuation and noise margin figures, with those speeds you must be in the middle of nowhere, or have some very dodgy wiring. Actually your upload speed is very good, on a perfect line is would not be more that 1mbps or 1000kbps.
