I use "core PHP programming" second edition from prentice hall. see https://www.phptr.com. And O'Reilly's "MySQL and mSQL". see https://www.oreilly.com/catalog/msql/

Both have served me well for my occasional forays into PHP/mySQL.

Dont forget both packages have strong user communities behind them and check their websites for links to forums etc...

next question, can I combine databases from multiple scripts as there a few little scrips I want to include like a secure members area and a mailing list scrip, but I don't really want to keep adding databases at £1.50 a month.
