Help!! WEBSITE HOSTING - mySQL Driven

Hello I have had a Competition website designed/developed which has not yet gone LIVE as it is 90% complete.
The website is coded in PHP and driven by a mySQL database.
Below is the current spec of my hosting.
750 MB of Webspace
5 GB of DataTransfer
50 Mail accounts
5 Sub Domains
2 mySQL DBs Included
The reason for this post is because I would like to design a very basic 2-3 page horse racing tips website which will require a PHP coded secure member area.
Can anyone tell me if I can put both website on my server and maybe a third website as I have an idea for another PHP coded website.
These websites will not be attracting major traffic as I will only be allowing a select few to join the tipster website, it would just make life easier as I am having to e-mail each member on a daily basis.
Any help on these matters would be great

Depends how you implement it.
Assuming you have 1 database per application then no, you'll need a third database (unless you use a file-based database).
You have 5 subdomains, that's sufficient to run three projects if you use proj1.domain.com, proj2.domain.com, proj3.domain.com.
If you want them to have different top-level names you'll need to buy them.0 -
You can certainly put 2 separate db's on the website without a problem. You can also put a third one on but it wouldn't be ideal as the tables for 2 db's would be in 1 db.
For example, you would have the following.
- MYSQL_DB1
Table_1
Table_2
Table_3
- MYSQL_DB2
DB2_TABLE_1
DB2_TABLE_2
DB2_TABLE_3
DB3_TABLE_1
DB3_TABLE_2
DB3_TABLE_3
You would have to create the tables yourself and keep to some sort of naming convention so you know which table belongs to which db. You would then use the same connection for DB2 & DB3 and then just use the required tables.
Messy but do-able

but can I buy a domain and point it to the sub domain? so when they type the top level domain it will show the sub domain content?0 -

also forgot to mention that my hosting company says I can add additional databases for £1.50 per month.... will this solve the problem?0 -
Although quoted for imbru I'm going to reply anyway and say that when you register a domain most companies now give you full DNS control (e.g. 123-reg and 1&1), which will let you point your domain to your subdomain.Tight_Wad wrote:but can I buy a domain and point it to the sub domain? so when they type the top level domain it will show the sub domain content?
That would indeed simplify things and solve the problemTight_Wad wrote:also forgot to mention that my hosting company says I can add additional databases for £1.50 per month.... will this solve the problem?
Out of interest who's your hosting company?0 -
https://www.burtonhosting.co.uk and I believe they are also know as B3 Hosting.0

how would my hosting company know how many databases I have and where do I store my database.
When I FTP to the server this is the list of files:
public_ftp
etc
mail
www
public html
.bash_logout
.bash_profile
.bashrc
.contactemail0 -
Your hosting company uses the cpanel control panel, so you need to log in to that instead of directly to the server using FTP. IIRC there is an option in there for mysql.
Having looked on your hosts website there is a manual that explains about mysql here, scroll down to the mysql link0 -
now why didn't I come across that...... cheers. I feel like I am finally getting some where.
Can anyone recommend any books that may help with the PHP and mySql programming.
I have nearly finished reading HTML 4 for DUMMIES.0
