PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

Well the way I see it is that this forum is open to the public (after registering of course). The HPC crowd are part of the public and bring with them a range of views which adds to the diverse opinions expressed here. Seems entirely reasonable that HPCers would be intereseted, and wish to comment on the Housing threads here (and vice versa). In fact, I'd positively encourage it.

why is everyone getting k nickers in a twist over an email address.. how much spam do we all get every day ?
its not important - life is too short...... "dont sweat the small stuff"
I agree. Don't see the problem....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I am on the side of the OP. Why pay a dog and then bark yourself? Agents are supposed to act as intermediaries.
I'd prefer the buffer of an agent to do the negotiating. It stops excess emotion being transmitted between buyer and seller, for starters, and can lead to more professional communication.
If this sale proceeds, I bet the OP will end up being contacted loads of time for petty issues or for information that duplicates that which goes through an agent or solicitor which will be very frustrating.
I say to the OP to ignore that email and add the seller's email address to a filter on their email system so that all future emails from them are automatically directed to the trash.0 -
If I had made the original offer by telephone, and the EA had contacted the vendor and said 'this is the offer, here is the other party's telephone number, you phone her to discuss it', I wouldn't regard that as acceptable.
The OP didn't want to be contacted directly by the vendor, she didn't give the EA permission to pass on her email address, but he has done so and it has resulted in what the OP feels is an awkward situation. I still think the EA has acted unprofessionally.0 -
""I still think the EA has acted unprofessionally. " - i dont think anyone is disputing that
OP should either ignore the email totally and then talk to EA, or write a very short reply saying - please address your concerns through the EA......
that is what EA is being paid for0 -

There is a forum for house prices. The clue is in the words house prices. It was created to stop every discussion here being invaded by people arguing for or against a crash. The return of the nutters, from both sides of the argument, is getting quite tedious.Been away for a while.0 -
You agree?
You are one of the guilty parties!0 -
After time spent on a number of forums, including both of these and some others, I sometimes think that every discussion is taken over by nutters from somewhere or other.Running_Horse wrote: »Does every discussion have to be invaded and taken over by nutters from the other place?

I hope this forum does not become a clique as some, obviously, are trying to make it.This is not financial nor legal nor property advice. Consult a paid professional if in doubt.0
