    Definately!

You'll need a injector socket too, which isn't something most people have in their DIY aresenal, however they're not that expensive for a "cheapie" if you're not planning on doing them every day.

The opperation to change them is easy, the mess to clear up isn't!

Silly Peugeot engines, that said this is their only major fault, compared to some modern diesel engines, it makes them saintly!

    Andy
  • ahhhhh OK. So i guess the injector is still firing but the washers have just gone. That is a great relief!

How long (in terms of labour) will this super messy job take do you reckon?
  • OK just seen you have said a couple of hours labour. Things seem to be getting a bit better I think. :)

Exactly that, it's only a "minor" fault, it just makes a big, big mess.

For a DIY'er I'd recon half a day if you've done servicing and stuff before and have reasonable tools.

You'll need to empty a can of Cocacola over the offending site the night before though, and leave overnight. Have LOTS of rags and a plastic scraper handy.......

Garage, I'd bank on 2 hours, but don't have book handy to confirm.

Buy the seals from Ford, at this money it's not worth worrying about buying them online, it's a VERY common fault and they'll have the parts on the shelf, they'll know exactly what you are talking about.

    Andy
  • My advice to you would be, if you have never done this this type of thing before, is get a manual, and TAKE YOUR TIME. just because its only a couple of hrs, don't mean you should rush if you are not confident.
It is not a hard job, more fiddly than anything .....
Believe me modern fuel injectors are not something you want to damage, they are VERY precisely made, and you don't want to be doing anything to the injector tips, they are very easily damaged, it is said you can change their profile just by wiping them with a cloth .........

  • Guys thanks for all your advise. I'll be dropping it off at the garage 1st thing in the morning and leaving it with them whilst at work. I'll let you know how I get on.

    thanks again!
  • Thanks to all for this info. I have now sorted the problem that I have with my Fiesta 1.4. As I can't do it myself it is booked in to be fixed. Hopefully I won't suffer from poisonous fumes anymore.

    Thanks guys.
