My SC is huge, can you sit a smaller dish in it & fill the SC with water like a bain marie,as I really don't want 6 litre of rice pudding0 -
Thanks Lannylee, but I think I'll try a completely new brand for a change
Phoolgrrrl It's not the acutal touching of the garlic that bothers me, it's how it makes your breath smell. Garlic is divine, but extremely anti social if you've had it and someone else hasn't, and vice versa
So I'm hoping I don't stink as much if I use Lazy Garlic......but I could well be kidding myself :rotfl:Aug11 £193.29/£240

I've pulled a cobnut squash, a few parsnips, a few hanger on tomatoes from the garden and have added some potatoes bought from a shop last week....i've chopped them up and now i am parboiling them and then i will roast them all in my hugo, my halogen oven...will also pop nut roast in there to heat through and voila, that's our evening meal. Today was my 4th NSD of the month and today was one so quite pleased :-)Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Today was supposed to be a NSD but I discovered I did not have enough brown sugar to make the 2 fruit cakes I had soaked the fruit for yesterday. Whilst there I replaced the crisps I bought yesterday as DH snaffled them even though he is supposed to be on a diet:cool: Serves me right for not eating them(or hiding them better:D). I have also made some Twinks and added the last few raisins that were leftover from the 2 fruit cakes.
I also got some cornflakes to practive/perfect the buns I am making as part of DS Christening cake. I spotted and bought some chocolate regal icing which is ideal for the main part of his cake but this comes out of a different budget.
Total spent £6.16.
DH has had a very stressful 2 days at work and has asked if we can have a takeaway tonight, something we do very rarely these days, and this will come out of the budget as well.
I received the Qu0rn recipe book in the post today that they are promoting on their packs at the moment for £2.99 and I am very impressed with it:T. I have amended next week's menu plan to include a couple of the recipes as I have loads of mince and pieces in the freezer and I need to make room as I want to make as much HM stuff for Christmas as I can.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

My late am-in-law used to make cheese on toast with milk and mustard, grated up in a saucepan on the top of the stove and brought to a slow rolling boil .Has anyone else done this only I can't remember exactly how she did it .She said that it was the way her OH told her to cook it the 'proper welsh raebit ' way that his mum cooked for him in Tredegar when he was a boy0

still make welsh rarebit for my lunch sometimes. My Dad used to make it for us on chilly Sunday evenings (can't recall him cooking anything for us other than a fried breakfast and welsh rarebit). He used to grate some cheese, finely chop an onion, put it in a bowl, add a few tbs of milk and add a dash of Worcester Sauce. Toast one side of the bread and then when you turn it over, spoon the mixture on the bread and bung it under the grill. I am salivating just thinking off it...Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

That's ingenious. It simply didn't cross my mind to use the time overnight - I love multi-tasking and getting more use out of my time. I really must get a slow cooker. I'm sure there'll be a thread here somewhere about it...Keep on doing what you're doing, and you'll keep on getting what you've got. :A0
