Mondeo break pads

Those quotes you had are grossly inflated prices, really £20-£25 for the pads from a motor factor or eBay, and the same for someone to fit it, it takes 10-15 minutes to do both sides, if you friendly with a taxi driver ask where they go, they certainly don't spend the amounts you've been asked.benham3160 wrote: »I'd just take it anywhere to be honest, it's a pad change, you'd have to be going some to get it wrong.
Mobile mechanics are always forgotten, but you might find it a lot cheaper to get a bloke with a tatty old Escort van round and do them on your driveway. Either that or ask your friends and relatives, you mind find somebody who'd be willing to change them for a few beers, it's really not rocket science.....
...or buy a Haynes manual:T
In defense (!?) of Ford, the pads will be considerably dearer as they are OE, I'd wager the padset is around £50-£60 retail.

I wish I knew someone that could do it in ten minutes.
Takes nearly that long to get it in from the yard, jack it up and get the wheel off normally.
My last ones took just over an hour for both, and I was lazy and let the garage do it. I know it was over an hour, I was there.
One of the pistons didn't want to wind back in, it took ages to get a bite on it.
If you go down the mate route, they'll need the tool to wind in the pistons too, or you'll need to buy one, so it makes a garage look good at £80 when it's all finished.0 -
I've paid £60 for pads and £100 for discs and pads including labour. Be careful where you get them though, there are lot of fakes about.0

£60 for rear pads supplied and fitted by my favourite garage. That wasn't the cheapest quote they gave but I didn't want cheapo brake pads. Breaks down as roughly £20 for the pads and £40 (1hr min charge) labour.0

Book time is 36 minutes.

Well the guy I use to change mine takes about 10-15 mins for both sides, he must be superman thenreally it will take about that, garages like to charge by the hour and try to justify it by taking their time, I would never take my car to garage that charges more than £50-£60 to change the pads, because they put patent parts on that can be picked up from a factors cheaply, and the labour should be for 30 mins max
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
I've got no plans to do it myself coz I don't even know how to get my tyres off to begin with. So the garage will be my only option.
Is there any website where I can find independant garages in my area ?0 -
what garage did the MOT, did they not give a quoteI

Try the yellow pages for garages, or do a search on google for garages or brakes plus your town name, but as mentioned try asking friends, family and neighbours, somebody will recommend someone.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. Are they doing a decent (and safe) job of it? When I had a motorcycle it used to take me more than 15 minutes per set, and I didn't have to take the wheel off to do them.0 -

Fitting brake pads can only go on one way, the guy I use has a van and comes to you, he services and fixes about 25 taxis for some friends with a cab company, he is vat registered and gives receipts, also I have never heard of anyone complaining about his work, or his prices as he is real fair and doesn't over charge.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. I tried ringing some of my local garages, and the prices were around £80ish, but Formula One Autocentre's offer was the best one £57.50 for the rear pads. I took the car and got it done but ended up changing front pads as well, and the Front discs were worn out as well and the disc were £55.
All in all pretty good service, everything was done under an hour and they even showed me the discs and the worn out pads it had...I'm very impressed by their service, will definitely go back for my tyres in the next couple of weeks. And they do offer price matching as well.0
