Viewing after offer accepted

We bought our first house last year and after our offer was accepted we wrote a very informal letter to the vendors. We asked them if it would be possible for us to come and view the house again in order to take some measurements and mentioned how excited we were to be buying our first house, We also gave them a note of our telephone number in case they wanted to get in touch with us at any time as we figured it would be easier to do things without EA where possible. The vendors were a lovely family who invited us to come around whenever we wanted and after we had been they told us just to give them a bell if we wanted to come around again prior to the date of entry. They were nice enough to leave us a wee bottle of fizz as a moving in present and we still see them quite regularly as they are friends with our new neighbours.0

Kirwell81 that was a lovely thing for them to do.
I only went to see the house once but my hubby went back for a second viewing, thats when he put the offer in.
We went to see friends last night who live 4 streets away so we had to drive past
I suppose if we go to the vendors dierectly rather than through the EA it won't feel as formal.
I know I shouldn't be excited until all contracts are signed & exchanged but I can't help the feeling bubbling away inside :j

My partner and I had our offer accepted a few weeks ago with a move in date set for the end of October. We took the sellers number on our second viewing (before we put our offer in) and after it was accepted and all the legal stuff signed we asked to come back and measure up. The seller was great and told us to pop by whenever we needed. I do not see the harm as long as the paper work is progressing along nicely plus it shows you are serious.0

I've seen this sort of advice in numerous guises over the years and think it's mostly nonsense.
For the vast majority of buyers they are primarily buying a home not an investment, why would they ever put an offer in if they hadn't fallen in love with the house?
This idea that if you pretend you are a "reluctant buyer" somehow strengthens your hand is a fiction - vendors are not stupid, if anything if another potential buyer comes on the scene who appears more motivated it could backfire spectacularly. It's a proven tactic for commercial negotiating but I don't buy it for typical home buying scenarios.
However I agree with the keeping it business-like advice.Every generation blames the one before...

I think Charliezoo means that Nollag2006 should have read your first post properly before harassing you about an imaginary gazumping situation. I'm guessing RTFQ = read the (ahem) question? So not aimed at you at all
I think it's absolutely fine to go back for one or more viewings after having your offer accepted - ideally before going over the Fittings and Fixtures form. Apart from imagining where your furniture will go etc, also have a look at what you'd like them to leave (fridge, washing machine...) - you may be able to use these as additional negotiation points later on, depending on what comes up in the survey etc. No harm either having a chat with them about how the boiler works, what TV/telephone/broadband provider they have etc etc. Often easier and more useful to do these things in person.

We're going to be booking a viewing to see the place we're buying again but waiting until a date for exchange is set.
Thanks& Good luck

I am going to see the place that I have had an offer accepted on tonight. Me and my OH had been twice before we made the offer, and this time we are taking our parents to see it.0
