  • Morning all,

AF for me last night thanks Pen.

Thanks for my clappy smiley Shaggy.... "small things pleasing small minds" Just tonight to go to achieve my monthly target and that's more or less in the bag already as I will be out on the river freezing my bits off:rotfl::rotfl:!!

I had an interesting weekend and have given a lot of thought to the plus sides of being AF. I only drank wine on Saturday and it was amazing how different I felt on Sunday morning compared to how I felt when I woke up on Saturday morning having had no wine the night before.

Saturday morning I was full of enthusiasm, raring to go, quite organised and got loads done.

Sunday on the other hand, I woke up feeling groggy and really quite down.....although I went for a nice crisp walk with a friend and we had a good honest chat, mainly about alchohol and I felt a lot better after that.

I know I'm stating the obvious and we all know that alchohol is a depressant but that is the first time that I have really thought consciously and compared the 2 days and realised how much it affects everything you do. It really is the difference between having a lovely chilled out, clear headed day and a pretty heavy, dull all round rubbish day feeling like c**p.

So why do we do it? Answers on a post card please.

Saying this I did actually have a lovely Sunday with a huge roast and a couple of bottles of vintage shloer so all was well in the end.....

Looking forward to the next 3 nights AF with a possible couple of glasses of wine on Thurs but no more. Already planning AF for next Saturday as I am up rowing at 7am on Sun and I have decided from now on that along with my weekly targets I am going to aim for atleast 1 AF on the weekend too.

Well done to everyone on their journeys to AFness, big steps or little ones, they all count.

    Happy Monday wishes to all

    JJ x

Well done bearacus:T. I really think if you want to cut down rather than give up it's not worth 'wasting' a drinking day really late in the evening.

Pen, plase could you put me down for the 4-day challenge? Not quite ready to commit to AFDs on Sunday due to the fact that I have dinner with the lovely parents and there's always a bottle of wine to accompany dinner, but may have a go... will be difficult though!

I really need to work towards just two drinking days at weekends too jan but like bear I'd really miss a drink with my Sunday roast. Friday is probably the best day for me to aim at but after 4AF days in the week I enjoy a drink on Friday. It's a difficult decision so at the moment I'm compromising with trying to cut the quantity I drink at weekends to 2 days equivalent (2 bottles) spread over the 3 days. I'm getting there. I don't really suffer with grogginess on that amount of alcohol but on SW it does make a difference to what I can eat.

Best wishes to all for an AF Monday!

One more in the bag last night (fell asleep in front of Bruce Parry's Arctic... it was a rave of an evening!) taking me up to 27/28

One to go, one to go, one to go!!! Really fancy a beer, or a glass of wine. I also dreamt of a shop last night with lots of different types of posh gin in the window, but I wasn't allowed in... not sure what that means! (there were other things in the dream-shop besides gin... chocolate brioche being one thing that stood out... still wasn't allowed in though. :()

And I think I am going to aim for 4 days AF every week, which is nice and easy to work out for Feb - My February target is 16 AFDs please Shaggy!

January challenge completed with 31 please Shaggy - and Penny done now Sunday and Monday, thank you. :)

I went for a very short and slow run yesterday and now I am aching - lots. I have told DD's breakfast club that I am taking her there early tomorrow. I am aiming to have a run before work. Wish me luck.
