  • Hi Fay - that urge is a wee pain in the backside. I always think we are two weebles doing battle - me versus the urge. Hopefully the urge will lose its wobble before I do....Gladiators eat your heart out....:D

All the earlier chat about food has driven me to dust off a new recipe book, so tonight we are having Chicken breasts in Lemon and Sage Sauce with saute'd pots and steamed brocolli.....

I was having a ponder today.... This is not exclusive and obviously does not include everyone but.. but was thinking... quite a few people who are in debt also harbour a liking for the 'drink' ... now was it the debt or the drink that came first... (bit like the chicken and egg..!)

For me I had/have the debt and the passion for the vino came much later...

Just curious.. feel free to ignore me, I'm used to it, I live with a man and teenagers...! :D

Off out now, back later for my juice...!

  • Good question - debt first = drinking much later.

alot of debt first really - drinking kinda snuck up when marriage was falling to bits, mainly money rows, that and the odd extra person invading it..................best stop now!

marriage failing made debts worse - life alone trying to cope = wine = debts worse = more wine - repeat alot.

Oh dear I've probably gone off on one again........................:(

    On the up

debt down = wine down alot............................

Debt first but only by a margin. Same as Fay - eventually feeding eachother.

First the drink was needed to soften all the nasty things ex ranted in the evenings and then when I moved away drink was to cope with the debt and all the stress that came with it. Just the one after I got DD to bed in the evenings - except it didn't stay as just one.

Talking about ex - he made damn sure I didn't make any friends and didn't keep up with my old ones. Now I am at lost to try to find character references for my new job. I know couple I can ask but neither of them have known me for more than two to three years. You might not be suprised to know that I might just forget to tell ex about the move.

    27 please Shaggy
and day 2 please Pen :)

  • They were round about the same time for me :o I can still remember the strange feeling I had when I got my 1st Credit card with £3500 limit and I realised I could spend it on stuff.

It was when I learnt I had to pay it back that it was not so much fun.

20 Please Shaggy and Day 2 for me as well Pen

I've done day 2 pen - thank you :) been getting harder here - but I've sat it out til it got dark and the feeling has passed - seems I'm worse between 5-8 - but thankfully it goes then.

Hope everyone's ok tonight. x Marru I hope you get sorted x

  • Hiya Ladies and Gents,

99% of my debt came from my boozing!

Lack of self - esteem / self - worth / confidence = drank more to feel better = more debt and so on .....

It's only been 11 days sober here, and I already feel flat / a bit low / empty / restless / in need to another 'fix'!

Thank the Lord I've got my CBT session tomorrow :)

Oh, and the TV Licensing man has just knocked (I wasn't hiding, I didn't hear him honest..) and kindly left me a letter telling me to pay up or he'll be back...

I do feel strangely calm about everything. Just a bit flat. Probably a bit of an anti - climax now that the ESA Tribunal Hearing is over, after stressing about it for months!

Have paid (ie - deferred them for one more month, until I can afford to clear them) three of the five cheques (which were due to be banked by Money Shop this week) = 3 x £16.98 (inc £1 a pop for paying over the phone, the cheeky b_ggers. I really could not face going into the place, but will be tomorrow..)

Paying the fourth tomorrow, and the fifth on Friday. Will then have about £43 to last me a week, so it'll be grub and that's about it!

At least I'm sober anyway :)

    Enjoy your evening all,

    Sim x
