TV Liscence

Hi, i've recently took the plunge and moved out and got my own place now. Things are going well but theres still a few things i'm pretty clueless on lol With regards to a tv liscence, i have been told that if i was to purchase a liscence today for instance, id have to pay for the full year...? Am i right in saying that is utter rubbish? I thought that if i was to pay it monthly then it would 'run out' so to speak at the end of september/october next year? If someone could clarify either statement it would be most appreciated.

Just go to the website, sign up and do it on monthly direct debit. You have to have one so there's no way around it. At the moment, you're currently breaking the law.
  • I havent got a tv yet so i cant be breaking the law...

I'm fully aware that you need one regardless, its just the payment plan i was confused about.

As Hammy says, and the great news is there is no extra overall cost for monthly.

The "monthly" option is a rip off as they will charge you far more than 1/12th of the annual sub each month.

The trick is that you always end up paying 6 months up front so the way they call it "monthly" is fraudulent.

Imagine if mobile phone firms tried this trick?
