Not quite through, my father sold the family home to go into a retirement property. After the accepted offer the buyers managed to get £50k off the price. Some for legitimate reasons (serious problems with the water main), and the other was "sorry since the stock market crash the property has dropped in value we want to pay less". My dad was in a take it or leave it situation, if he'd put it back on the market he wouldn't have got the offer's he did before (market had just crashed). He couldn't go to the other buyers to see if they were still interested due to Scottish law.

Yes no gazzumping but other practices occur.

Back to the OP as has been suggested you are in a position to move right now are the sellers willing to wait an additional 6-8+ weeks for a sale that might not go through all for £1k? These are the kind of discussions you should be having with your estate agent.
They will speak to the seller on your behalf. Remember they will not get any commission if the other estate agent's sale goes through. So light a rocket under their bottoms!

If the seller insists on more money you may not have to offer the full £1000, £500 might do it. If they are being anally retentive about it and want a larger offer, £1100 should do it if required.

My personal opinion about the issue of the Repo house? I'm glad a house is going to the ownership of a family! :D Just buying our next home and we've lost out on so many houses due to Buy-To-Let and Investment buyers purchasing the deals that there are out there.

    Good luck!
