in Credit cards
hi,
After a bit of advice for my sister please.
She has a Halifax reward account, and was presented when logging in to internet banking with an advert for their rewards credit card.
She applied, put her annual income, but included tax credits in this as she works 16 hrs a week, also under household income put her partners annual salary.
She didnt get an instant decision, today she had a phone call saying they wanted proof of income taking into a Halifax branch to be verified, stamped as original and faxed to the credit dept. She asked if they needed the tax credit proof and they said no only wage slips she tried to explain she had included tax credits but the girl didnt seem to understand what she was talking about and just said no just take your wage slips only.
Obviously she thinks they will decline the application if she only supplies 16hr salary of £550 a month.
Just wondered if there was anyone with advice, or inside info about whether they would take tax credits, mainly as sis doesnt drive and would have to take 2 long bus rides to her local branch!!

Short note explaining the breakdown of the declared income.
Take the additional documentation anyway, not just the payslips.
Worst scenario - they decline. But it might just be a way of accurately assessing what credit limit to offer.0 -

As per opinions4u. There is no advertised minimum income requirement for this card, but definitely provide evidence of all "income" rather than just the wage slips to the branch to give the best chance of acceptance.0 -
do what i did with proof of income,
took 3 months worth of bank statements to cover the tax credits that way they see all in and out.
halifax may let you do that?0 -
thanks for all your help.
So do you think its just to see the limit to offer? Shes a card at the mo that only has £250 limit that she pays in full monthly so really wanted one with a bit more, but will also pay in full, to keep score ticking over as they are thinking of getting a mortgage.
Do you think a covering note explaining breakdown, or even a statement showing credits would be of benefit?0 -
bit of an update...
Sis has took the required info in, including the bank statements, the branch were less than helpful to say the least.
They said there was no point sending the details as they would probably reject the application anyway and she would be better off waiting for an advisor and doing the application in branch as she would get an instant decision!??!
As i'd ended up driving her there i was with her and asked the logic of this as surely its all goes to the same dept!? Eventually after waiting for an advisor they took the documents to fax, sis asked for a confirmation slip to say it had gone through and the staff member said she couldnt do this due to DPA, just said if we dont here from credit dept within 5 days go back to branch and they would process an application for her!!
Tell me if i'm wrong but does this smell fishy to anyone here?0 -

They are simply trying to secure the sale for their own bonus.0 -
Doesn't smell fishy to me - the people in the branch just don't really have a clue what the people in the CC department do/want them to do and vice versa. I had to take in proof of income and the branch people didn't know what to do with them, then said they did, then never sent them so my application was stalled for over a week. When I took it in again I actually got a competent member of staff, who phoned all the right people to get it sorted out for me.
Get her to call the CC people in a few days and see if they have the proof, if they don't maybe she can get the fax number to send it herself? They mentioned that I could do that when they initially asked for the proof, but silly me thought it would be easier to go to the branch!! Best of luck with it all0 -
thanks opinions.... i though as much to be honest.
Think its a bit out of order, as no we have no evidence we even took the information asked for into the branch.....
Think i may get her to call and check get the feeling they never sent it?0
