t mobile payg doesn't work

Can anyone tell me if I have the right for money back. My mum (67yrs) bought a t mobile phone £20 with £10 top up from a shop. They never checked her postcode and there is no signal for them where she lives. went back to the shop they said their mistake but nothing they could do can't unlock phone told us to call t mobile. did that they told us to go in to shop???? offered to unlock for £15 I don't think that she should have to pay anything does anyone know where she stand legally thanks

If she didn't ask at the time about coverage she's out of luck, sorry.

There's no reason for the shop to check if you don't ask them to, so I can't see how its their mistake?

The £15 unlock fee is the standard fee.

I think its down to you (or your mum) to check the coverage before you buy the phone.Maybe worth trying to unlock the phone yourself.I unlocked mine for free.Maybe tell us what model it is and someone might be able to help with an unlock code.

How's Orange coverage where she lives?

From the 5th October she should be able to roam on it

You may need to select the network manually first time from the 5th, since presumably they will send out a SIM update which the phone will not receive in its current location.
