I have just applied for, and been accepted, this new cc. They are sending details in the post, but just wanted to check if they operate like othe cc companies in that do they allow you to set up a DD to pay off the full amount every month?

  • Yep, mines set up to pay in full every month from my HSBC account. I spoke to them when activating the card and they set it up :)

Thanks for that. Can you operatethis card online similar to Capital One with transactions shown online and e-statements?

Yes, they do internet banking and you can opt for e-statements rather than have paper ones.

Your Halifax online account will show transactions, but it doesn't show pending ones like Capital One does.

Paperless should be back up for everyone from January 2011.
  • From the wording of Halifax's direct debit letter, it seems they will take the direct debit amount, even if you have made manual payments. I'm in my second month with the Clarity card so still not fully familiar with how their system works but looks reasonable. This is a bit different to my other cards Lloyds TSB/Nationwide/PO/Santander who only direct debit the difference when the payment date comes.

But why would you want to make manual payments. The idea of a DD is to pay off the statemented full amount every month, isn't it?
