You should have been left with the large 'spanner' that fits the top and the little one to turn the isolation valves on and off.
If it is only a year old, there should have been a set of spare 'o' rings come with it as well.0 -
Well, overnight I seem to have had no more drips and the casing seems to be dry - so it looks like just tightening the lid was all it needed!
Thanks SO much - thank God I asked here before taking it all apart or wasting the plumber's time!

I've a nasty feeling I threw some spare bits away, thinking, oh, I won't need those. Doh!0

spanner wrench ..looks like this

all the best.markj0 -
We just had a sudden leak from one of the new ones (black taps, black O-ring). About 1 drip every 5 seconds. Enough to drop the pressure to zero overnight. There was no obvious reason, no nicks or cracks in the o-ring, no accidental knocks to the filter bowl (its in the loft) and no freezing. Fortunately once the combi pressure was lost the boiler stopped and I only lost about a litre of water which was retained by the carpet under the boiler in the loft. An open vented boiler would have been a different matter. Using the spare O-ring and an obliging plumber seems to have fixed it - hand tight (his not mine) then 1/8th turn with the spanner. There's a washing-up bowl under it permanently now just in case.
I would still recommend it. The new boiler was fitted 6 months ago following a professional power flush, and over those months the unit still collected enough sludge to half fill a coffee mug. It's also a handy place to replenish the inhibitor.0 -
I can echo that, we emptied the one I mentioned earlier after abour 15 months, a good bowl ful or crap that was hopefully allready in the system when we started:T:TI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
