best way is to log on to dropbox at their website,
* click on the Files tab,
* then select the 'public' folder, then press upload.
* after the file has uploaded it will appear in the list.
* hover you mouse over the file and a downward arrow will appear
* click that and select 'copy public link'
* send that link to your friend (via email, post or even telephone) (you will need to do that for each file as the link will be different for each file). (items in your public folder are not really public as you have to have the link to view each file and having one link does not allow you access to all the other files in the public folder)
as for the folder sync software you installed you can either uninstall it if you dont need or want it it, or you can use it to back up some of your important files and always keep then in sync and upto date (one of the best features of dropbox) the vid is a good watch on how it works at www (dot) dropbox (dot) com/tour0 -
What about uploading your video to You Tube? That gum you like is coming back in style.0

If I knew how to yes that would be an option but I guess the subject in the video would not want all the world to view his suspect golf swing. Maybe when I get him swinging better than Tiger Woods!

You can use your gmail login for a youtube account, and you don't have to make your videos public.
To get you started, open your gmail account, click on more from the top menu then youtube, follow the instructions to create an account.
When done you click upload, browse for the video file, select it and Robert becomes a close relative.
Mind you its much the same procedure to attach a file to gmail! That gum you like is coming back in style.0
