Just wanted to lend my support. I know how you feel in this situation and I have been there. All i can say is that you WILL get through it and it WILL get better.
I would also highly highly recommend telling your parents. I was in the same situation and my parents had both retired - I put off telling them for two years. Once I finally plucked up the courage to tell them they were so sympathetic. I had half expected a lecture from them, forgetting I'm not 12 years old anymore! It was just a burden off me that they knew. I made it quite clear I didn't want money from them as it was my mess, but having them know at Christmas and birthdays I couldn't get big presents (if any!) and if they wanted rid of anything I would have it for ebay. Not having to deal with your mum's 'horror' at you buying second hand clothes would just be one less thing to deal with on top of everything else you have.
Stay positive and believe me it will get better. Keep regular contact with CCCS - your creditors will be much more sympathetic if they know in advance of any issues.Debt Sept 2007 (1st LBM) - £63,000 :embarasseStarted DMP July 2012 (2nd LBM) - £34,000DFD (currently) - 12 years!"Failure is not falling down, but refusing to get up."0 -
I have to agree that 20 years is a long time... Is this because you expect to return to work in the foreseeable future or some other reason? £85k is a lot on one income no matter how good that may be... I think it's a real acchievement that you have paid of £5k already to be honest so please be proud of thatDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -
:)Hiya,
I am new here myself so can not give much advice. Do you have any loans, could you make any ppi claims on, I am currently doing this. I have looked in the loan forum and lots of others doing it too and quite a few been successful.0 -
HI i totally sympathise ......i've been with CCCS for over four years and have another two and a bit to go ....over the past year i have had to drop my payments to CCCS by £150 due to losing my travel allowance and my salary not being increased this year AND i have had to make minimum payments on three seperate occasions due to washer and fridge freezer breaking down, root canal treatment and an eye watering vet bill.
Speak with them, they are human and very understanding !!! - they may be able to adjust your budget as they would much rather you make regular payments and not live beyond your means . If you feel you can't face actually speaking with someone email them . Bottom line is if you don't ask you don't get
good luck0 -
Just seen this... we were due to make our cccs payment on the 1st of each month... but that date was a struggle for us so i gave them a call and they moved it to the 10th.. so maybe they will be able to for you? x0
