Best Budget Smartphone

Hi All,
My phone is just about to give up and die and I need to get a new phone.
As much as would love an iphone 4 or HDC desire I really can't afford one right now.
I'm on a sim only contract so just need to buy the handset only.
Can anyone recommend a good budget smartphone?
I do need to have bluetooth, phone and wifi (not sure if these are all standard as I did like the look of LG viewty the new one but it doesn't have wifi). HDC smart seemed like a possible good option.
I'm getting so confused looking online and thought it best to ask those who may have experience of them!

Seriously thinking of backing my desire thats due tomorrow and getting this!0 -
Agree - was going to suggest the very same handset.
Only reservation I have with it is the Dolphin PAYG tariff gives only 100MB a month - what happens if you go over?0 -
It does look really good..however my sim only contract is with O2, so won't be able to get an orange phone

I'd keep an eye on MoDaCo as they are already on the case!0 -
Palm Pre Plus gets my vote on O2, you should be able to get a far better deal than you would with an iPhone.0

Shouldn't be a problem - there are temporary solutions available to get around the sim-lock ( http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12167 ). It won't be long before a proper, free unlocking solution will be available too, as ZTE (the makers of this handset) has already released the kernel, etc.

Seriously, you can't do better for the money than the San Francisco. Also, 10% discount if you're student. 20% discount if you work for the NHS or Government. You can buy online now, too - so go through topcashback or quidco to get an extra £12.50 back.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

How does the student discount work? I can't see anything on Orange's website that asks for a student number. If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button
