fair point, but then again, i knew a man who had once paid to use an airport lounge and got told to leave when his flight had been delayed several hours and had to go sit and wait with the rest of us low-lifes ;)
  • Traveled with Ryanair a few times now and as long as you follow their rules from baggage weights to sizes etc.. then you seem to have a smooth flight. I've even been 45 mins early coming back home Easter.
Anyway, similar thing happened to my family and I coming back from Palma in July. We were told that there was a 1hr45 m delay at first and then just just before this time, it flashed 3hrs and then to our amazement we were told that the flight had arrived and we were going to board, all this just before the 2 hr mark.
We went through boarding control along a passage way down some stairs to wait for the bus to take us to the plane. This is were it got bad, as we were one of the first through the boarding gate, we was able to stand on the side of the road but lots of passengers were stuck on the stairs for an hour. There was only one airport staff waiting on the side who wouldn't tell anyone what was going on. People was getting impatient and people asked what was going happening about 10 mins into waiting, but she said i don't know and just said 5 mins.
There was surging from the people on the stairs to get to the tiny ground area and when the bus did come, there was lots of pushing and shoving and my children got caught up in the crush, by this time we had been relegated to the back of the Que and one of my children (3 yo) got on the bus and the doors shut on the rest of my family and me as i was about to put my hand luggage on, as you can imagine, i wasn't happy and wasn't speaking in my usual well behaved voice at the airport staff. Doors opened and my little one was let off. While we was waiting for the next bus, i asked airport staff why she wasn't able to tell us what was going on and just kept quiet without an apology.
When we did get on the plane, we were explained the situation.
Another Ryanair flight that arrived after them had there passengers and luggage taken off before ours and to add to this, it happened again with our luggage and passengers for our flight, with the other flight being first.
The other flight took off before us and we missed our time slot so we had to wait on board for another hour.

We were going to get drinks when the 3 hr delay came up in the terminal but had to board asap for some reason (could it be if your delayed more than 2hrs, they should offer refreshments?).
As we was thirsty waiting in the plus 100f heat outside for an hour waiting for the bus, we asked for a drink on board along with other passengers. We were told that they had no cold water on board and couldn't serve us anything due to regulations on service while not in the air.
The pilot couldn't be more apologetic over the whole incident and this helped passengers anger, but i felt the flight attendants really couldn't give a monkeys, as there manner showed this.
I know its not entirely Ryanair's fault with the whole fiasco, but who tells the airport to start boarding passengers? Why don't Ryanair have more buses or luggage trucks for such a big airport?
One Ryanair attendant said that she hated going to Palma because Palma airport give them so much hassle there.

Did I complain to Ryanair? No
Did I complain to PMI airport? No, I wouldn't even know where to go about it.
Would I fly with Ryanair again? Yes
I just wish that the idiot airport staff could of given us some water while we waited for the bus or Ryanair could of sent for some water at least while we waited another hour on the plane.
last thing, even the people who paid to board first got pushed to the back and boarded last (how ironic)

Sounds like you had it really bad, makes mine look like a walk in the park! but its the english mentality,
    we dont complain enough!
so what if you may have got a good deal, ryanair maybe cheap, but can be as expensive as other airlines,
but it dont mean they have the automatic right to treat you like sh*t or maybe as i suspect, tell foreign airports to say nothing at all and deny everything going on if a unforeseen problem does occur,
some people say you get what you pay for, but common decency must prevail
  • I'm all for complaining when service isn't good etc...
I asked the question to Ryanair last year in a letter, the situation was as follows....
I booked my flights 3 months in advance as they say book earlier for the cheapest flights.
Then every midweek and weekend after, right up to the weekend before our flight, Ryanair did special offers with the same flight and surrounding time flights also.
They ranged from; no tax to zero flight cost (tax extra) to £5 flights. Probably couldn't sell the flights.
I sent the letter out, about 2 weeks before we flew, asking why they did this after saying book early for best deals. I got a reply by email just saying flight should be cheaper and % are cheaper most the time. I sent one back saying that passengers would wise up to it and would pent there distrust by not buying on there over priced plane prices. I just didn't buy anything on the plane both ways and bought meal deals in Boots etc... I've done this on my last two trips with them also. I find people don't tend to buy much on there flights, purely because they are charging 5* prices for 2* food and drink.

Ryanair don't care if you have had a bad flight or that there staff are sub-standard and unsympathetic. The only way to hit them, is in there pockets, don't buy there food and drink, its there one big money maker.
I'll use them still, as flights suit me for a 2 hr journey and prices are cheap and to be honest, there are mostly on time. Customer service wise, they are bottom of the pile.

Got this link if you haven't got it already from this site.
Maybe write to Ryanair and ask for vouchers off your next flight with them, if you can bare another flight with them.

  • Forgot to add, past experience with so called experts on here isn't great. They are more interested in punctuality, spelling and feeding of each others answers and contradicting each other than giving good advice, They are an elitist group who don't sympathize, but I'm sure they are the first to throw their dummy out the pushchair if they were in similar situations.
Read my situation with curry's, i apologize if you don't understand my first statement on my situation but things ended OK in the end, with no thanks to some of the so called experts who only caused vexation to the situation. They just make you don't want to write in again.
  • It doesn't matter how cheaply Ryanair sell their flights. They choose to operate in the EU and have that advantage - they should then follow the rules put down by the EU.

End of argument. If they haven't followed the rules then you have every right to complain. I wouldn't be waiting until I got home either. If I was left with no food/drink being held waiting for a delayed flight then I would be demanding that they provide the vouchers that they are obliged to.

we did demand them, but we remained calm whilst asking, as you never know what the security measures are in foreign airports,
we did all we could at the time, but it was like banging your head against a brick wall, there was no ryanair office in departures, just 1 as you leave and that was chokka with the other customers who had been cancelled!
