ryanair

hi, we just got back after a 4 hour delay because of the french strike (not ryanairs fault i know) (and better than cancelled like others did)
but their service was awful to put it mildly,
we had very little money left and after 2 hours as printed on a form, asked for a refreshment voucher, not a chance, asked 3 more times and nothing.
we were not even allowed the 2 phone calls home either!
on boarding the plane we asked if we would be provided with a free meal, not a chance,
so we had 2 small bottles of water and a few wine gums to last us 9 hours in total!
has anyone ever reported them and successfully claimed compensation for this sort of ""service"" when it wasn't the airlines fault in the first place, but to be denied basic stuff thats supposed to be a rule set by the EU for all airlines to follow?

You could ask them for the few pounds you would have been given to cover your 'care' during the delay. However the time and effort taken to do this would be much more than the benefit gained.
    Gone ... or have I?

to be honest, i'm not sure who caused the hassle? ryanair dont employ the overseas staff do they? and it was they who refused us.
i did hear of another airline over the tannoy telling their customers to go and collect a voucher, but ours wasn't coming!
some poor mare had been there 22 hours too

Probably because the other airline paid the going rate for ground services, not the pittance Ryanair have negotiated.
Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear
  • So what actually are you expecting from your 4 hour delay?

It wasn't really Ryanair's fault. If you were in a taxi stuck in traffic, would you start demanding free drinks?

Your flights probably cost less than a can of coke, yet you want freebies for a small delay? Talk about cheapskate.

Ryanair have one of the best records in the industry for flights being on time, they have an unblemished safety record, they're brutally efficient. People like OP seem to want the mega-cheap prices of Ryanair but the service levels that someone like BA would offer.

I guess people are just naive and stupid.

It doesnt matter what you think, we are talking about law here, and they are entitled to refreshments

thats my point, dont know if they're laws or just guidelines, but no matter what the cost we paid, the rules apply to all airlines,
its like saying cars costing under 1k are not allowed on the fast lanes of a motorway!
as ive said, i dont think its totally ryanairs fault, but they have to answer to it surely?
it wasn't exactly a pittance for the flights either, not looking at my wallet anyway.
my argument is we got treat like 2nd class citizens with zero respect from the staff/airline, yet we never once treat them with any disrespect, we were always polite in asking for what legally or not? we were entitled to, but got no where with them.
