Charged for an extra phone!!

HI
My partner took out a contract with orange in 2003. He has just realised after scrutinising his bill that he has an extra phone on his account that was active for a year from the date he set up his account. Although not active any more he has been paying an extra £35 a month for this phone. He has worked out that he has over payed orange by approx £2300!! Orange told him to contact the fraud center by letter, which he has drafted out. He did not request this extra phone.
Has anyone got any hints or advice on how to fight this and get the money back?
Thankyou in advance,
Pam

Has this extra phone made any calls ? or ever gone over it's plan minutes/texts ect ?

When a phone added to an acc fraudulently the usual pattern is a huge amount of usage until it gets blocked for high usage or the real customer get the bill and calls in...
