parking ticket KFC

Today I have received a parking ticket from civil Enforcements Ltd for over staying 21 minutes at the KfC broughton Lane sheffield. There must be a 1 hour limit but we didn't notice it. I had a disabled passenger so the main concern was to get her out of the car. What should I do about the fine?

    Absolutely nothing.

    Ignore it, they are scammers.

this is not a fine, they dont have the authority to issue fines,
only the council and police/courts can issue fines.

    It is an unenforceable invoice.

Ignore everything you get from them, do not contact them, you will get ever increasing threatening letters but they are empty threats.

Just get on with your life.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

If they have written to you then you could always try this as a reply

    Dear Sir or Madam,

I am in receipt of your invoice for parking at the (details of location) on the (insert date). I note you have written to me as the registered keeper of the vehicle. Please be advised that as the registered keeper of the vehicle concerned that I have no liability whatsoever to pay your invoice. You need to contact the driver and invoice them directly.

Please do not correspond with me any further on this matter except to confirm that you will be not taking the matter any further with me as the registered keeper of the vehicle.

    Yours sincerely

    It's a template ive taken from http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?97586 maybe worth a read !!!
  • The main problem with contacting them is that they know they have contacted a person and will send extra begging letters. By ignoring them they don't know that they have reached you and will give up quicker.

Seconded, you really don't need to reply and start wasting your time using templates etc.

Nothing wrong with that letter but it's pointless, especially with a tame PPC like Civil Enforcement who don't do Court, ever. Their pathetic letter-chain has recently been posted in pics on this thread:

Now start ignoring the whole scam and stop worrying, debsnem. 'Tis nothing at all.

    Any advise will be helpful
  • They may as well say Aliens will attack your car, its just as likely to happen.

That is exactly the response they are looking for. The scam is designed to make you worry. CEL never ever take anyone to court.

Look at the 'worst case' scenario. They take you to court and you lose.
The judge orders you pay their charges and costs.Provided you then pay within 28 days you will not get a CCJ, and as it is a civil debt you will not get a criminal record.

Since you indicate you were considering paying, why not put the money into a saving account ready to pay and wait. In twenty to thirty years time it should attracted quite a lot of interest.

This pre-supposes they will take you to court
(which they won't), and you would lose (which you won't).

They always say Court and CCJ and litigation and other scary words in their threatograms.

Just like phishing emails always ask for your Bank details - you wouldn't fall for that would you?!

Did you look at that link to our thread with the pics of the letter-chains? They are just standard letters and it's actually quite funny when the matching letter arrives just as our thread predicts. You'll know you are near the end as each letter comes, won't you? Don't actually read them!

In my handbag here I carry about the threatograms I got over a year ago, to show any friends or colleagues who worry about bogus parking tickets. I am the queen of parking ticket info at work! :D

Do you know I NEVER read the actual contents of those letters at all, and still haven't?! I just laughed my head off when I saw I'd got a bogus parking ticket from a private firm (as I already knew about this scam) and laughed even more at the pretty coloured ink and scary bold lettering which matched our thread exactly. I just thought, oh, here's the third letter, that's the last one then, and shoved it in my bag with the others.

Nothing happened after that (of course). They cannot just 'apply for' a CCJ!
