    Jackie,
Since you've responded here, it would be good to get clarification,in general terms,of the points being raised:
    * Does your contract include a full service, or a 'visual inspection'?
    * How long (ball-park obviously) should it take to do properly?
    * Is it dependant on manufacturer/model ie should the engineer follow the manufacturer's recommendations for annual service, or follow a set process for all boilers?
    * Do you have dedicated engineers, or sub-contract out? or both? And if an engineer/sub-contractor does a poorjob, would you send the same one back, or find another?

Hi justin277, on reading your post again it seems you may not actually be a HomeServe customer. You mention an Npower engineer attending. If your policy is Npower then you’ll need to contact them directly but if you’re definitely not with Npower and are in fact a HomeServe customer then please contact us as Jackie mentions above.

G_M thanks for your questions. We’d be happy to talk about this with you so please do get in touch if we can help. Our email address is provided in our Profile page here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/member.php?u=2078577"

Hope I am not 'intruding' here on this thread.
I have an Vailiant eco-max boiler which I have under an insurance plan with Corgi Homeplan. This covers Boiler and Central Heating.
They did the Annual Boiler Service in December and I had no written report from them stating that the boiler or system was in need of any work doing.
The in March the boiler broke down. Corgi Homeplan sent an Engineer who told me the boiler is a write off because of sludge. And isn't covered.
I have since the had three engineers in to give me quotes to replace the boiler and one has stated that the system is so badly sludged up that it would have been impossible for a trained engineer not to have spotted it during the December service.
Corgi Homeplan state their service is a visual service (????????) As such it cannot detect sludge build up. Even extreme build up.
I pay Corgi Homeplan to look after my system. They include the boiler service (or so I thought) so I have never thought that I needed to get any body else in to check my system over. Their website states i will have complete peace of mind.
It strikes me that their visual service is NOT a Boiler Service at all.
It doesn't include checking the magnatrap.
SO what purpose does their Boiler Service have if I still need to get somebody else in the so a service to meet the manufacturers recommended service level.
Are they legally correct to call their service an annual boiler service when it is clearly not?
When i asked them about their complete peace of mind and other statements on their website they replied that I should ignore what he website states and just read the small print!
Anybody got any experience of dealing with Corgi Homeplan on similar matters. It strikes me they are totally negligent.
Having paid them loads of money each month I wonder what for.
