My grandma used to make her version of Mars Bar Cake:

    Mars bars
    crushed digestive biscuits
    glace cherries
    dollop of golden syrup

Melt the mars bars then add the other ingredients. Put everything into a square baking tin, press down and allow to cool. Yummy!

Heehehehehehehehehehe I feel a little wicked for starting this thread now :)

But some really super ideas, I'm going to make Granny's Mars Bar cale for next weekend when long time friend comes to visit to cheer her up :)

Do we think it could be possible to coat spoons in melted mixture to put in my hot chocolate/winter warmer hampers for christmas? Or will the chocolate do that weird thing and go white?

There's always mars bar trifle if you want to blow the diet completely!!

Put a layer of choc. cake / swiss roll on the bottom of the bowl; add a layer of chocolate mousse, then a layer of thinly sliced mars bars. Repeat the above 3 layers then finish with a layer of cream and decorate with mini-mars bars or slices of mars bar.

    Deadly, but scrummy!!

mars bars are also lovely with BBQ'd bananas (which, in this weather, you could do in the oven...

wrap the bananas (still in their skins) in tin foil parcels, and place in the oven or under a hot grill for a while. remove carefully, as you will get a lot of water coming out of the banana.

peel, and put chunks of the mars bar in amongst the hot banana to melt. sounds gross, but its looooovely!

ooh, and make sure you use really big bananas, because they tend to shrink a bit on account of all the water that comes out of them

  • You could hold onto them (and your waistline) it will soon be Halloween and the guisers will be at the door looking for their sweeties.

Loving the recipe ideas on here, not keen on mars bars myself but OH is and he has a major sweet tooth.

You could mix both ideas by making the cake and wrapping it in cellophane for halloween treats, something alittle different.
