Beware of being ripped off for car tyres

Hi everyone,

Did a ring around this morning for prices for 2 premium tyres. Got quoted £220 by National Tyres. I went online and used tyre shopper,(sorry cant post links but google it and it will come up)
where i got 2 of the same premium tyres at the same fitting centre for £128. I was able to book and pay online and choose a fitting day.
I did phone the fitting centre and spoke to the same man that i had spoken to get the original quote and asked if he could explain this. He said he had no control over the online bit alongside with lots of uuhhhming and aaahhhing. So i said i have booked and payed online and will see you saturday then!:j

They rely on technophobes to rip off with these prices.... And there are plenty of them about!

Probably 50% of the people I know and even work with think the internet is going to raid their bank accounts, give their personal details to rapists and tell !!!!!philes which school their kids go to.

    Why? The media!!

  • Isn't Tyre Shopper owned/affiliated with National Tyres anyway? Their online tyre websites are the same. And the prices are the same as National's eBay store. Which in turn takes you through to another similar site to do the actual booking. :)

Forgot to add, its hardly a rip off is it OP, you dont have to buy national tyres as there are other choices
  • If Tyreshopper's anything like Blackcircles, then the garage only gets the fitting charge.
    Dave.
  • Remember to check you are getting the correct speed and load ratings.

Paying the first price asked has always ended up the expensive way.

You are most likely not buying them from National Tyres, but from a different vendor who will ship them to National Tyres and pay them to fit them.

sooo right.. yesterday i was trying to pay a bricklayer for 2 days he worked for me ... asking him to text me his account number and sort code , he almost slapped me ;) what do you think i am he said- stupid? i dont want you to empy my account !

ok mr bricklayer i said send me your f_ing address and hope my cheque arrives to your place, and you have to go to the bank and have to wait few days for it to clear !

we are all born with a smile and inocent... some people remain ''inocent'' forever:rotfl: some people decided to learn and move on!
  • Tyreshopper and National Tyres are one and the same - its their online arm. They don't publicise it - don't know why not?
Don't know why they try the smoke and mirrors game with the public pretending they are not the same company.

Hopefully the fitting centre treats you well when you turn up.
