The 'orribleness is terrific

I thought this problem had been ironed out but no. I took windows back to factory settings and then reinstalled everything, I think. However I was unable to reinstall the logitech camera, at least it reinstalled but was not useable. It also appears I have the same problem with my epsom printer and my daughter's mobile phone.

Is there someting I am missing? It feels almost like there is no recongnition of the software. Needless to say I am getting severe earache can anyone put me out of my misery?

I am on XP and there are 2 users set up on the machine will this make any difference?

HELP.

You seem to be saying that it is USB devices that you are having problems with. If this is the case, right click on My Computer and the Device Manager, Hardware. Expand the Universal Serial Bus Controller and then right click Properties on a USB Root Hub. Check That it is enabled and working etc. and not switch off in the Power Management tab.

Don't see how I can simplify them! My Computer is on your desktop. Try it and see.

I suppose that because its all gone very quiet no one has the answer to my problem?

What shall I do? There must be something very simple that holds the key.

i think espesso is saying control panel> system> hardware tab >device manager. Expand the Universal Serial Bus Controller and then right click Properties on a USB Root Hub. Check That it is enabled and working etc. and not switch off in the Power Management tab

You will need at least Service Pack 1/1a for Windows XP for USB2 to work.

Yes I have checked all as suggested by Espresso and that seems to be in order. Still no camera. However as my printer will not work either whne connected to a usb port it suggests that I have not reinstalled something in windows when I reverted back to factory settings.....

Guess this has got everyone beat? What now?

It may help is you stated exactly what you did when you went "back to factory settings". USB could be disabled in the BIOS but re-installing Windows would not affect the BIOS.

I put in the recovery disc, rebooted, then formatted hard disc as per manual, then installed all the drivers. Updated online from windows and microsoft and that, I thought was that.
