Ive been with aol for years, from dial up to broadband, ive tried various other isp's , granted only dial up not broadband but ive never found any as user friendly as aol, the only problem ive ever had with them is the price, but now with them doubling the speed i have no complaints at all.
I agree with another poster that id much prefer to be with a large well known company than a smaller less known one that i know very little about.
And no I have no objections whatsoever about paying my money to the "Yanks"Nobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission

I deleted the posts as being off topic and then couldn't get back in to post a reply.
The OP asked about AOL as an ISP, so can we keep the thread on topic please.0 -
Homecall have some good deals for unlimited Broadband and Telephone packages. I have been with then 3 months, with no problems

I have also been with AOL for an age now, dial up and BB. A lot of ppl have real issues with AOL, however i'm very happy with the service on the whole. As with everything in life theres good and bad sides with them but i haven't encountered many of the latter.
The only complaint i have with AOL is their indian call centre. On the rare occasions i have to call them, I always pray to get through to Ireland and not India."There are no pockets in a shroud..."0 -
Hi, I have also been with AOL for many years, tried lots to start with but always came back to AOL. Now have Broadband Gold, very happy especially with the free upgrade, but to be quite honest the 512 is very fast. I have wired connection main PC to router via ethernet and have kids on laptops wirelessly. All three on internet at the same time with no problems, or loss of speed. Have Thompson Speedtouch router, and Thompson speedtouch 110 pc cards. AOL only recommend certain types of routers cos they are not compatible with software, but had no problems getting Thompson stuff (loads of web sites sell it) or setting it up.
Best of luck. What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
I am very happy with AOL Dial-up.
P.S. MSE Tip :You can get it at half-price if you get a job at Dixons!0 -
I too have been on AOL for years. I especially like it that I can monitor child activity on net and can limit who they have email/im from and access to sites. Only had to use indian call centre once when trying to install bb modem. Blooming useless.

I have been on AOL dialup for 3 years now and I have had no problems with it and on the odd time I have had to ring them I have found them very helpfull (on most of the occasions I had to ring them I was involved in beta testing AOL 9), I am going to be transfering to their 512 broadband very shortly, but going back to your question slojo, you can not go wrong with AOL as I said they are very helpfull plus their customer/tech thelephone numbers are 0800 numbers which helps, All their e-mail is virus scanned plus Aol have now got a spyware scanner built in.
A mate of mine has just gone on broadband with them after many years of dailup with them and again he has found them very good in the past and the one problem he had setting up his connection to work they solved in minutes.
hopefully I have help you a little bit.clacker1uk0
