I tried syncback in the past, I found it a bit difficult to use.

Not confusing it with Synctoy are you? ;)

Found that to be unreliable, and trickier to setup the scheduling.

Isn't the free MS Synctoy available for Win 7?

    From Wikipedia
SyncToy supports 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP.

I had problems with XP/Synctoy, got used to Free Syncback.

  • No I used syncback with an external drive, it took ages and the errors made were too many for my liking.

I found that Free File Sync is a more reliable alternative to SyncToy.

I find Synctoy rock solid (and simple to use) for home computer, but use Syncback from 2brightsparks on networks where Synctoy is simply too slow to scan for differences.

Im looking for an easy to use backup program for my PC.

It has to be Win 7 compatible, I want to use it so I can back up my docs, music and pictures from my 1st hard drive to my 2nd hard drive.

It would be handy if it just synchronised as well. Ive tried to use windows backup but all I get is a backup of unrecognisable files and nero 7 is just the same.

Can anyone recommend a free program that will do it?

I use and recommend Handy Backup, it's easy and reliable backup software for Windows 7, and works great.
