I'm off to New York on the 19th of Oct for 7 days with the wife and two kiddies. I've been scanning other posts and been using the information to work out an itinary. I'm planning to do most things. Statue of Liberty/ground zero and other sites. Boat/Ferry ride. Subway visit. Train to Toronto to see the falls. Pick up hire car and visit two nephews whom are playing football near there. Already have the flights and hotel for seven nights in New York. Is there a site where I can pre book the Statue of Liberty/ferries and so forth? Any tips on itinary and things to do greatly appreciated.

Consider also http://www.newyorkpass.com/index2.asp
We had a one day pass, and managed to cram in:
Empire State (inc. simulator ride)
Statue of Liberty
Guggenhiem
NBC Studio Tour (Do this early morning... tours get filled quickly)
UN Tour
30 minute Beast Speedboat ride ('twas a toss up against 2-hour Harbor Lights Cruise, but we ran out of time!!)
BTW - The best thing we did was hiring a bike for Central Park (http://www.transalt.org/calendar/century/rental.html) and canooing by the Statue (http://www.manhattankayak.com)0 -
try the NYC forums on tripadvisor.com, trip advisor is such a good resource and the NYC forum is probabably one of the busiest so you should get good answers quickly.A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining and wants it back the minute it begins to rain.0

can you confirm that your holiday is for 7 days and you have booked a hotel in new york for 7 nights ....i'm worried because going up to toronto and the falls isn't a day trip from the big apple regardless of using the train ...even flying it wouldn't be possible with any meaning to do it in a day0 -
Hi
Agree with Hammy, train is aprox 8 hrs,

Am I correct it thinking that to see the best falls you need to cross the border in to Canada?Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 092

:T Thank you all so much guys. The only things I have booked are the flights with British Airways and the hotel via my brother inlaw whom is head concierge of a london hotel which has links with one in the big apple so I got some great rates. Hence the reason for booking the full seven nights when we will probably spend two nights in Toronto
I'll be sitting at my pc tonight planning the week. It will be a hectic one!:j0 -
