My vendors are taking the curtain poles too, which must say I was surprised about which means my buyer will have to take hers and so on.
Whn viewing the vendor did say they were leaving curtains etc, but now they want £150, for just the bedroom ones
    Money for bathroom fittings etc!

Thanks for all replies. I had already completed my fixture and fittings form for my house and am leaving curtain poles. They wouldnt fit the new house anyway as the windows are completely a different size so would be useless.

PoorDave: the form states if ceiling lights are to be removed it will be assumed that a ceiling rose, flex and bulb fitting with bulb will replace it. If I am to confirm this to the vendors, do I need to speak with EA or conveyancer? (as conveyancer sent me form).

I am hoping they reconsider curtain poles as I am no DIY expert and dont want to be getting dressed on the landing for the first few weeks....
  • when we moved house a few yrs back , the previous owners took every single light bulb lol

I would get a very clear itemised list as to what is being left and taken.

I tend to be generous to people I like but strip a place, within reason if I don't like my buyer.

I would leave the normal white light fitting with its rose and some basic shades. I tend to leave lightbulbs too and hope the next house leaves them for us. Curtains and poles tend to be left unless we state we want them. Bedding is left if it matches the curtains. Any special overhead lighting is taken unless they wish to purchase. I would take cuttings from the borders and take the pots. White goods tend to be mentioned in the specs, as to what is being left or taken.

You could always Freecycle your curtains, Oddgy. There's always someone out there in need, especially people moving into their first place without the funds for new everything.

You'll feel better about it than using them for rags. In fact, you could always ask on Freecycle for lesser quality stuff to use as rags, if you need some! ;)
I have a glut of old curtains (albeit dated) collected over the years but don't want to throw them out.
