Just received my vendors Fixtures and Fittings list. I cant believe they are taking ceiling lights and curtain poles!!! I can understand taking curtains and light shades but the curtain poles and ceiling lights are screwed in for goodness sake. Based on this, I am surprised they are leaving the washing line and kitchen cupboards.
I know they are not obliged to leave them but I really wasnt expecting it.

Curtain poles and ceiling lights can be expensive things and can easily be reused in new houses. Some of our ceiling lights cost over £100 and I like them a lot
, though I have replaced them with cheaper, but still nice, chrome ones for buyers' convenience. You can always ask them to leave them by calling your EA; they probably would if asked.

The curtain poles are the plain wood ones and the fiitted ceiling lights I am not that fussed over but they would have done until I was ready to redecorate each room. At least I will be left with a bulb and and ceiling rose thingy, as specified in the form so I wont be left in darkness!0

Well, they're just plain stingy then or they think they're at the height of fashion  At least you'll have the impetus to go out and buy new ones though.
It'll really annoy them when they drive past and see your gorgeous new curtains.
I love leaving curtains and blinds 'cause they always stay; even when people say they're going to replace them. Our first flat has changed hands twice now and still has our blinds from 1999.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

If our completion comes off on Tuesday, in the sale of our home we have included all curtains/ blinds/ poles etc. Dining table/ chairs, dryer and carpets etc, all light fittings/ lightshades and so on. And I've taken all the curtains down, laundered them and re-hung them. All either very good quality or practically new. No extra cost.
How stingy of your sellersDO NOT MEDDLE IN THE AFFAIRS OF DRAGONS, FOR YOU ARE CRUNCHY AND TASTE GOOD WITH KETCHUP0 -
When we move we will be leaving the poles, lampshades, curtains, bathroom fittings, even the tumble drier which was imported because it was necessary to have one a certain size to fit in a small space in the kitchen. We are also considering leaving the white kitchen goods if the vendors want them (and if they pay full asking price) so we don't have the expense of mobing them, will just buy new and have them delivered to our new address (when we have one). Are we mad? No, just thoughtful of the poor FTB who will pay for our house0

Are you 100% sure they're leaving the bulbs?!
Sound like the type that try to take the wallpaper with them.
Plants in the garden? Seems to be a trend for taking things planted in the border (i.e not just in pots) these days as well.
Make sure the list covers everything you would want to see there, no matter how obvious.Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery0 -
I have moved home several times although not in the last ten years and each time the vendors have left us with a standard lightbulb with plain white ceiling rose and they have taken all curtain poles and white goods which weren't integrated. I never expected them to do anything else but maybe that is just the norm in N Ireland.
I'll tell you this though if I was to move tomorrow I would do exactly the same. There is no way I can realistically see that a vendor would pay me enough on top of the cost of the house to cover the cost of me having to replace my electric range cooker, american fridge freezer, tumble dryer, washing machine and dishwasher, none of these are intergrated into the kitchen. The only things I would include in the sale of the house would be my fitted blinds as they would obviously be no use in another property my microwave which is integrated and an extremely well stocked garden which would be a selling point for the house.
My husband and I worked hard to afford some of these items and they are expensive to replace so it's not a question of being stingy just fiscally practical. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I offered to leave the curtains to our buyers, but they said they didnt want them. They wont fit in our new house, so we are gonna take them and use them as dust rags. Mite as well put them in use, especially after they said they dont want them. Anybody would think they are really old, and a naff old fashioned design, but they arnt. We are in our Twentys......and so are they?! But not fussed, they just want to make the house their own so thats fine.
However, we will be leaving our curtain rails.....!!! The new house has these. lol. We have a ceiling fan, and we are intending to take this, but of course we will be relacing it with a rose and bulb! Surely, thats not being tight is it??0 -
You could always Freecycle your curtains, Oddgy. There's always someone out there in need, especially people moving into their first place without the funds for new everything.
You'll feel better about it than using them for rags. In fact, you could always ask on Freecycle for lesser quality stuff to use as rags, if you need some!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Ill be taking anything that the buyers havent specificaklly requested or paid for.
After all, vacant possession is the name of the game. Im happy to sell on ( or leave in terms of blinds and curtain rails etc) and im hoping they want the light fittings as it would cost me to get them removed. But not for nothing and I wouldnt want to pi55 anyone off by leaving things they dont want, after all we see enough people complaining about that on here too! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
