Might sound a bit thick to knowledgeable people but how do you turn a document into an Ebook?

Scan it in and save it as a series of images or in a multiple page file format such as PDF.0

So if I save a book for instance as a PDF I can them upload it to my web space and if I wanted to sell that as an Ebook I then send a link to that space and book to the purchasers, is that right? The curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile0 -

Thanks Chippy.
So how do I upload it to my webspace.
Told you I know little about this sort of thing, sos.The curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile0 -
You need an ftp program, e.g. one of these --> http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=268585
Or use Windows Explorer, or sometimes the webspace has a 'control panel' which allows you to upload files using your browser.
Who is your webspace with? The URL for uploading via ftp will be something like ftp://ftp.mywebsite.co.uk.0 -
an ebook is an electronic book or a book stored in an electronic method not on paper. A word document can be called an book. The common file type to use is PDF/adobe acrobat as the program to view the files is available free so everyone can view them without having to buy additional software like microsoft word.0

NTL and I'm sure I've seen somewhere on their site that you need to purchase something at a one off of £20 or so.The curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile0 -

That's their 'preferred' FTP program, Terrapin. Preferred as they get a cut of the purchase price. They do give you a one month free trial with it though.
Any FTP program will do the same (I use Filezilla), and Google will give you loads of free ones. You'll need the settings though, and AFAIK, NTL have dropped these from their help pages, so here they are.
Server name: upload.ntlworld.com
User name: yourname@ntlworld.com
Pass: the password you use with your email
webspace: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/yourname
Obviously, 'yourname' will be the name you've used to setup email etc on your account.0 -
